This may sound strange, but for a relative's therapy I need to fill a 60 quart rubbermaid container (it is about 13"x16"x20") with dry beans of any sort -- something to do with tactile sensation. At the local A&P the largest bag of beans I could find was only 16oz for 87 cents, and I would have needed MANY bags to fill this this container. Does anybody know where I could get much larger quantities at a lower price per pound?

Go to the Hispanic neighborhoods-- Passaic, Newark, Paterson, etc. The grocery stores there generally sell beans in 10 to 20 lb bags.

Incidentally, would smooth bulk small stone suffice? That would be cheap and easy to find... (The type used for driveways)

How about Costco? There's one in Clifton, just across Rt. 3 from the Clifton Commons shopping center...it's about 5 miles east of Montclair. If you're not a member, I think you can get a one-day free trial pass.

Edit: I know that they sell HUGE bags of rice...you might want to call and ask about dry beans.
