("can-can")

Every time i look down on this timeless town

Whether blue or gray be her skies.

Whether loud be her cheers or soft be her tears,

More and more do i realize:

I love paris in the springtime.

I love paris in the fall.

I love paris in the winter when it drizzles,

I love paris in the summer when it sizzles.

I love paris every moment,

Every moment of the year.

I love paris, why, oh why do i love paris?

Because my love is near.

Bonjour ya'll (I've always wanted to say that),

We are having a great time; thanks for all the advice. One quick question: any idea where to score some Gatorade, or barring that some Lucozade? I already recovered, but then my spouse caught a 24hr bug and 7up ain't cutting it. Is there a French sports electrolyte beverage equivalent?

I really mean it when I say we are having a great time. Really!

What do people eat in January--what's seasonal, what should I look out for?

I grew up in Paris until I came here for college. One of the fondest memories I have of winter in Paris, is the smell of roasted "chataignes" (chestnuts) that vendors roast and sell on the streets in newspaper "cornets". This was my favorite snack on my way back from school, I used to burn my fingers trying to open them up, a great way of warming up your frozen fingers!!

Malawry,

You might want to ask at a Pharmacy, they might have something they recommend. I know some Pharmacys have special water for various problems.

The sports beverage of choice in France is called Extreme Energy. You should be able to find it at almost all the little convenience markets, and the larger markets, like Casino

Merci beaucoup. The problem with asking at a pharmacy (which did occur to me) is that I only know a few sentences of French. My sweetie is mostly better now anyway.

For future reference, I've always been able to find someone who speaks English in any pharmacy. Should that not be the case in a particular one, just go to the next; they're on nearly every corner in some neighborhoods.

I'm glad to hear the bug is retreating.
