A funeral means making a short-notice trip to Aberystwyth (from London) at the weekend. Whilst it would have been nice to break the journey in Ludlow, all places there are, unsurprisingly, fully booked for Friday and Saturday.

Any alternative suggestions of place in or around the Welsh Marches where it is

a) possible to eat well; and

b) there is an outside chance of getting a last minute table ?

Jay gave it a good review and we have thought about it as a stop off, en-route to Ludlow before now.

I think this is more of an Inn serving good food rather than a "gastropub" as such, that was laziness on my part.
