I've seen a line of "Plantation" rums - they share common branding but come from different Caribbean locations e.g. Jamaica, Trinidad, etc. etc.

Does anyone know anything about this line of products? Are they worthwhile etc.? Opinions?

Thanks

Yes, these are all made by Gabriel and Andreu, the same guys who own Kaniche rum. They also own a few notable cognac and calvados houses.

The Jamaica 1983 one is good, I happen to own that one. I haven't tried the others.

A buddy of mine gave me a bottle of the 1991 Trinidad, which I thought was very good!

Quickly, bring me a beaker of wine, so that I may wet my mind and say something clever.

Jason,

Do you know if GA still owns Kaniche? They used to, but it has been removed from their site and the local GA distributor is unable to get it any longer. Maybe Ed knows?

With regard to the Plantation rums, I have found them to be very good. There are 5 rums in the collection, most vintage dated, two of which are column stilled and 3 which are pot stilled. Price range is $20-$30 ish.

Yeah, the Kaniche Rum products seem to have dropped off the face of the earth or they have consolidated them into their Plantation brand.
