Great! Shall we say we have a quorum and set it? 7/21, 7:00?

This is 2 days after the Paella party (Paul, you should let that tyke stay up two hours past his bed time and come), but I can never get enough eGullet Heartland action to satisfy myself.

Delerium Tremens, yummmmm.

Ah, good, Gentle G. Then, afterward, we can go up to your place and continue the cleanup of the authentic 24-carat howling mess we're about to make of your house and yard on Saturday.

:blink::biggrin:

You forgot about my secret weapon - the super cleaner. I'm quite sure everything will be cleaned up before I stagger into bed.

Sorry, everyone, been away, and should have confirmed.

Yep, you bet, we're on - Monday night, 7:00. I'll be the guy with an Orval, and a lamp, stumbling up and down Clark street, saying "have you seen the dolphin? Have you seen the dolphin?"

Guajolote -

Am sorry that I will have to miss your event. Reading, it seems you have dozens of howling beasts perched at your door, poised to pounce on some serious food. Have a blast! Look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Maggie, thanks for the heads up re: Rachel; I have given it to her.

See y'all Monday.

Cool--I forgot about this.

I have a Baking 101 practical that day, so I'll have my whiskey pants on (i.e., post-practical student uniform). Promise not to laugh.

Noise is music. All else is food.

"Laugh", my oversize foot. By the end of business on the average Monday, I'm not likely even to notice.

I may be able to make it as well; there's a chance I may be working too late to be able to make it, but I should have a better idea tomorrow when I get there. Sounds like a good time.

Mmmmmmm chocolate.

Well I am still stuck at work  (if they only knew how much time I spent on egullet  ) so unless I get outta here within the next half hour, I don't think I'll be able to make it. I wish I had seen this thread sooner, not sure how I missed it, but next time I'll be sure to get off work early ahead of time. Have fun guys!

OK, ladies and gents: I had to miss out on this, so someone has to Tell All. Because no one has yet makes me think that the beer was extensively quaffed, and you're all pulling together those tasting notes.

(And I want to hear about the cheese.)

They made Guajolote put the cheese away.

Other parties took care of the actual beer drinking (I drank a really nice dryish Prosecco and ate more than my share of a double order of mussels with frites), and I'll let Gentle G (those dancing elephants haunted my dreams last night, boyo) and Nightscotsman and Hobbes (mead?! neat!) and Aurora deliver those reviews.

Much fun was had; I only regret that Paul had to leave before Aurora and Nightscotsman and I could get up there (dratted Clark Street bus!)

Well, Lady T and Aurora were kind enough to meet me after class and escort me to the gathering on the Scary Big City Bus, so we got there a little late at about 8:15. Thanks ladies.

Not being a beer person myself I don't feel qualified to comment on the brews, but I did sample a lovely English mead that was very nice - somewhat sweet with a rich honey flavor. I also had the smoked duck sandwich, which was excellent, and some perfectly crisp thin cut frites with garlic aioli. I would go back to Hopleaf for the fries alone.

Aurora and Guajalote were in fine form dreaming up new products to market and the infomercials to hawk them. That girl needs her own TV show. And of course we gossiped about all the eGulleters that didn't show up. :raz:

I arrived earlier than the downtown crew and got to meet Paul o'Vendage, his lovely wife, and there adorable little boy. He (the boy, not Paul) has the cutest curly hair. Carema and Auxerrois (sp?) showed up a few minutes later, it turned out that Carema and Paul's wife had worked at a restaurant together a couple of years ago. Hobbes also came, he is quite nervous about starting his new job today (good luck Hobbes!). We spent a lot of time talking about wine, and I even learned a few things.

The evening was a lot of fun, especially the lawyer-bashing .

The cheese was left over from the party, I gave it to a homeless guy on the way home.
