Current Trade Agreement Reaching EOL, UK Cheese to Become Rare/Expensive in Canada

The trade agreement the UK negotiated with Canada in the wake of Brexit (for cheese, and I would assume other foodstuffs as well) will reach its end-of-life as 2023 ends, meaning British cheeses will face a large tariff relative to those from the EU and other points of origin that have active free-trade agreements with Canada. Expect to see a large increase in the price of your favorite Stilton or extra-sharp Snowdonia, and a corresponding drop in availability.

so, this is not so much cheese , but other items linked to cheese :

'''     British negotiators getting nowhere fast on the terms of a comprehensive trade deal with Canada ''

'''''   cheese exports have been squarely rejected by their Canadian counterparts ''''

'''''   negotiations over a wider trade deal, the Canadian government had been pushing for the British government to lower its food standards in relation to beef imports but the UK has refused to comply.  ''

so this is really about beef .  Canadian beef to the UK .

Just a quick followup to note that talks have, for now, been broken off. As you would expect, there are some differences in how the rupture has been reported in Canada vs the UK.

The Canadian government's official "take" on the whole hormones-in-beef topic can be found on this page (last updated in 2012):
