This restaurant is located a few hundred metres from the popular tourist attraction Cataract Gorge, the meeting place of three rivers. It's on Paterson Street, hence the name, ie, nothing to do with eye issues.

 

We wandered in at 6.15 pm on a Wednesday night hoping for a table, but no luck. That surprised me, so we booked a table for Thursday (last choice 5.30 pm, really) and enjoyed arguably the best meal of our 12 night trip to Tassie.

 

Fresh oysters from Backmans Bay near Hobart. Nothing but lemon and pepper.

 

Scottsdale pork belly twice cooked in Asian cider on a cauliflower puree with pear & quince port paste and walnut crumb.

 

Chicken parmigiana with chips and salad (the reason for ordering this is a long story, better left unsaid).

 

Creme brûlée with honey ice cream, raspberry puree, berries, pistachio and a wafer.

 

Plus, a bottle of local Tamar Ridge Pinot Gris.

 

Great service and atmosphere with yummy food, bookings advised.
