After a lot of patience with CDG, yesterday and this afternoon just got my goat - I've spent more time on these fr******G buses back and forth, and crawling people movers that it is not even funny.

Yesterday from B to F and back to C ? and Today, same crap. I've tolerated this for three years now - CDG should be run by the AMS folks !!!

I might add that the Maxim's bar/sibling facility at CDG does not offer good food (not that I have yet sampled the cuisine at the original Maxim's, which I will get around to for historical interest purposes). There was a choice of salads, and a glass of wine, as part of a menu under 20 euros. However, the salad I sampled was mediocre. I doubt the outlet is any better than certain non-branded outlets. I forget which terminal the Maxim's bar was at. :hmmm:

CDG = Charles DeGaulle Airport (Paris); France at its worst, IMHO

B, C, F = concourses at said airport

AMS = Amsterdam airport (can't remember its official name*, but my recollection is that it's a lovely agglomeration of Dutch fricatives); a very good airport, if a bit sterile (haven't been there in quite some time; it may have changed)

*I remember: Schiphol, isn't it?

Maybe it's changed, but post 9/11, I noticed a number of airports doing the shuttle bus thing for security reasons.

I'm hollywood and I approve this message.

Cabrales - you have not yet made it to Maxims? I am shocked!

For the record have made it to the Beijing branch - starters better than mains; home-made puff pastry (a rarity in china at the time) - fish nice even though it was frozen

back on topic, I would have to add that Amsterdam Schipol is a fetid pit of hell which has been deliberately designed so that any conceivable transity will require a five mile hike

Jon -- Yes, Maxim's is on a list of restaurants with beautiful architectural/historical interest that I have never visited. Others on the list include: La Coupule, spelling (cannot be interesting enough to make the Restaurant Magazine top ten, by any measure); Julien; Laperouse; Le Train Bleu; La Fermette de Marboeuf; Drouant; Elysees du Vernet.

I don't suppose too many on this site have used Terminal 9 (now T3). I have and it is class A dump. People are herded hither and yon and in the summer it is to die.

Major airlines must be succeeding in keeping out the charters who must use this facility.

So there!
