The marketing people at Gourmet magazine are launching a Facebook-like social-networking service.

The site, called GourmetGuestList.com, is something of an Evite on steroids, with features that let users plan events, send invites, assign tasks and plan the menu. Users can also share photos and recipes. The site went live June 1 after being beta-tested for the month of May.

I wonder if there's room for something like this, and what if anything it can accomplish that the established services can't.
