  1. Just called (we plan to go for the first time tonight) and their website is: http://www.stickeysbbq.com The girl that answered the phone said some links may not be working, because it is still a work in progress. However, I checked it, and it seems to be working fine. They have a PDF of the menu, which is more up to date (with prices, etc) than the link in the first posting (perhaps Jason could remove his posting of the menu, and put up the real one... prices are a bit higher now, too)
  2. Not sure what you consider Central NJ, but Crane's - a cheese shop - recenly opened in Maplewood Village.
  3. East Garden Gourmet & Chinese Cuisine 981 Pleasant Valley Way West Orange, NJ 07052-1801 Phone: (973) 736-4609 It is in the little strip mall of stores -- along with a dry cleaners, a Krauszer's and Ralphs Deli... just north of Starlite Pizza (at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Ave (aka Route 10))-- near Metropolitan Plant Exchange.
  4. I order them from a local Chinese Take Out place -- East Garden, here in West Orange. I've seen two different types through the years... a steamed version...which I've had at those buffet places and purchased in packages of 12 from the Chinese supermarket in Edison or Green Brook area. East Garden's are like the kind sold in the bakery section of Captain Fresh Supermarket.. a dough almost like a sweet roll... larger than the steamed buns. Almost shaped like a potato roll, with a golden brown color. The East Garden take out menu lists them for 1.35 each. I'd check local Chinese take out places near you. The buns are usually listed under appetizers.
  5. Gencarellis Pizza was supposed to be moving to Orange or Newark from the Freeman St West Orange location... have they moved yet, or have plans changed? How would the Gencarellis space work for you?
  6. Urban Trend in Maplewood Village just closed. Not sure it is big enough though. Also, Main Street South Orange has a listing of available storefronts here: http://www.mainstreetsouthorange.org/ http://www.mainstreetsouthorange.org/availprops.php Here is something listed in South Orange: (from the Main Street SO site) 307 Irvington Avenue (restaurant space) 2,500 sf available. Turnkey operation; close to Seton Hall University. Short walk to center of town.
  7. Not sure of the square footage, but there is a restaurant available for lease on Northfield Avenue, West Orange, diagonally across from the Turtle Back Zoo/South Mtn Arena. It used to be Slaviskiya (sp?) Bazaar, before that it was an Italian place and before that , I think a Kenny Rogers Roasters. It had a drive through window which may be blocked off from the inside, but the drive trhough lane and outdoor window are still visible. I'd love an alternative to McDonalds -- would a drivethrough be feasible for Amazing Hot Dog?
  8. Can you give us a general area of where you need? Central, Northern, South Jersey?
  9. Do you happen to know what their delivery area is? I am 5 miles from there, and it is VERY tempting! ← ShopRite's Shop at Home service DOES NOT DELIVER. You have to go to the store and pick up the groceries that you ordered online. But they do have special pick up parking spots, and someone does load everything into your car. For delivery, you'd have to check if PeaPod (www.peapod.com ) services your town. I know they just expanded a bit, but they still don't cover me here in West Orange.
  10. Everyone has given correct directions... it is in the Shopping center with the Home Depot and Pathmark, just north of Riverside Square Mall, and across from Continental Plaza office towers/TGIFridays. It's a bit of a hike from our West Orange home, and you have to be in the mood (and it IS better with a group) , but we get up there a few times a year... We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there... now THAT was fun! Have a great time!
  11. replying to an earlier post... You mean a steak buffet like Ponderosa?
  12. According to: http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/essex/index....62091370240.xml (Pathmark article is the second article) Pathmark closing after 29-year run WEST ORANGE: The Pathmark supermarket in West Orange will close its doors on Feb. 25, after nearly 30 years selling groceries in the township. ...company spokesman Rich Savner said the 40,000-square-foot store space was no longer large enough to accommodate the supermarket chain's needs or compete with the larger ShopRite supermarket down the street. ... pharmacy has closed and he said that shelves will be sparse for the next week as the store tries to unload its remaining stock. Township officials said they are working with the shopping center's landlord to bring in a new business to take Pathmark's place, preferably another supermarket. One retailer being discussed is Whole Foods Market, a Texas-based supermarket chain specializing in natural and organic foods.
  13. The Kmart (formerly Caldors (formerly E. J. Korvettes)) was bought by Sears pre-merger and is being converted to a Sears Essential store. ← What is a Sears Essential Store? What about the business located between KMart and Pathmark? I think there may be a liquor sore or an eyeglass place? How about someone buys the whole building and builds a Target or Lowes??
  14. Was reading the ad for this week's Pathmark sales, and the one that came in the mail has an overwrap indicating that the West Orange Pathmark has lost its lease. Any plans for another grocery store in that location? I hope they clean it up, I liked the former 24 hour opening, but the place had a "cramped and dirty " feel to it.
  15. Drove around today after work, and found it, China King, on Valley Road in West Orange, From Switchboard.com - but not indexed under restaurants... searched by name - I thoght maybe it was technically in orange (which could have been why i couldn't find it listed under West Orange restaurants, but it is apparently in West Orange. China King 562 Valley Rd West Orange, NJ 07052 Phone: (973) 731-2511 Peking House is on S Valley Road, in WO, but the 2 roads don't seem to be connected. (and isn't there a Valley STREET in West Orange too, right in the same area?)
  16. As a side topic --- I drove past the Slavinyskia (?) Bazaar today and the lot hadn't been plowed yet. They look closed. (or maybe just on vacation?) Anyone know?
  17. Don't think so. I should just drive around until i find it. I remember trying to find it and with Valley St and Valley Rd (two different roads, but parallel to each other) I missed it and ended up in the CVS shopping center (the one that burned down and was rebuilt). The place I'm thinking of, (I found it later, while driving around). was on the right side of the street, as I drove north, in a brick building - like 2-3 stories, with 1-2 shops on the ground floor and apartments above. I have a 2002 phone book at work,; I'll have to check in there to see what I'm thinking of. Thanks!
  18. Looking for the name of the Chinese restaurant in West Orange, on either Valley St or Valley Road... it is not Peking House (or whatever restaurant is in the CVS plaza) . They serve Chinese donuts (which most take out places do not have on the menu). It is in a row of 2-3 stores on, I think , the east side of the street. Cannot find the name on switchboard.com, or in a list of Chinese restaurant in a West Orange business listing. Perhaps they have closed? Can anyone help? Thanks!
  19. ejebud - I live about 1/4 mile from there too. Maybe we are neighbors? <g> Let us know how it is. Meant to try it when it was BICE, but never got around to it.
  20. Was invited yesterday to join my sister and her family at Morton's for a 5 pm seating. Pretty good food, but pricey. I think the bill came to $620 (with tax and tip) for 7 adults and a toddler. Hot apple pie was really good, and 4 of us brought leftovers of our steaks home for another meal.
  21. I took advantage of ShopRite's sale on Filet Mignon this week - 4.99 / lb with PP card. I used to trek to the Livingston one, until I tried to split an order (no one behind me) to use 8 coupons. Checker said I couldn't do it, was againts company policy -- haven't been back since. Millburn, and Springfield stores have let me do two or even 3 orders to maximize my multiple identical coupons. I should go to West Orange, but got used to the others when WO was being built, and haven't been back except to pick up prescriptions or emergency foodstuffs. Anyone know what they are adding to the Springfield (on Morris Tpke) Shoprite with the very small construction they are currently doing?
  22. Any comments, complaints, etc, about the Spaghetti Warehouse (small chain restaurant) - especially the Syracuse location? Thanks!
  23. Rosie, no problem parking. We parked on the opposite side of the street , in the beginning of the block (I think in front of a hair braiding place?). Had we known there was a parking lot in the back, we would have tried that. Also, after 6 pm, one is apparently allowed to park in the yellow-striped-curb loading zone directly in front of the restaurant. (we didn't know that either!) Kimmy - Most of the Fink's-related posts in this thread are from 2002. There are several other finks-only threads, and they mention that the restaruant is going to be catering only as of July 3, 2004. Thanks for the info , though.
  24. Went to Indigo Smoke in Montclair last night. Great food. Service a bit slow, but my husband says that’s to be expected in a BBQ place. We arrived around 8:20 pm. (Yes, they ARE open on Mondays, despite all the web info I found that says they aren’t!). Several couples waiting in the comfy waiting area, but they were mostly waiting for their take out orders. Were seated by 8:45 - ordered by 9:00 and served by 9:20 or so. Started with their house blended spiced iced tea , unsweetened, but pretty good once I got used to the cinnamon/nutmeg(?) taste. I ordered the fried chicken ($9) - 4 pieces coated in an herb crusted, parmesan coating, very crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Husband went for the BBQ sampler ($18). It was supposed to include ribs, BBQ chicken, sausage and pulled pork, but about 10 mins after ordering, the waitress came back to tell us they were out of BBQ chicken, did we want to subsitute something else? Hubby asked for a second helping of the sausage. We also ordered the Sides sampler (6 items for $14) - Mac & cheese (smooth creamy, and I loved the piece of cheese on the top); potato salad (also creamy and very tasty); bacon hash browns - tasty and different; baked beans (I don’t do baked beans, but my hubby loved them!); Indigo crispy fries (large seasoned steak fries - very crispy on outside and soft inside, delish!), cole slaw - I don’t usually eat cole slaw, but this was fantastic... I was fighting my husband for every bite.! Also ordered biscuits - several people on this board mentioned how great they were, but no one mentioned the SIZE of them - like hamburger roll- size! Finished off the wonderful meal by sharing a blueberry cobbler. Took home leftovers and finally rolled out of there around 10 pm. <g> We definitely plan to go back - Husband asked how long they’d been open, (about 2 years) and then told the waitress he’s sorry he didn’t visit earlier! Unfortunately, they do not yet have their own website.
  25. Some South Orange/Maplewood residents on MOL have expressed interest in a Wegman's on Springfield Avenue - perhaps instead of the planned Walmart ( where the driving range is now, next to Home Depot in VauxHall/Union)... What a way to revitalize SA Avenue! Will Wegmans fit on that "island" of land between Old Mt Pleasant Ave and Route 10? Or will it actually be BEHIND the BK, on The road that runs just south of Route 10.?
