  1. Sunday

Wild Sockeye Salmon with Soy-Honey and Wasabi Sauces

Baby Bok Choy sauteed with garlic and finished with a little chicken broth

    Honey Carrots

Fried Brown Rice with egg, tiny shrimp, peas and lop cheong

Yakon(Squash Cake)- first try at. Tasted okay but didn't firm up so still pretty squishy, more pudding than cake like.

  2. Saturday

Some truly nice rosemary foccacia(if I can't eat it at least I can smell it which has a certain orgasmic quality all its own)

Chicken parmigian in a diced onion and garlic tomato sauce with basil and oregano

Roasted acorn squash then mashed and mixed with butter, cinnamon and nutmeg

French cut green beans in a cream sauce

Farfalle with a chicken broth sauce thickened with some mashed carrots and celery

Dessert plate: assorted leftover desserts including an orange cream roll, some crazy coconut pie and some schokolade edelweiss(which two or three days later, people still love)

  3. Shattered beef on toast: Kalbi (Korean-style marinated grilled beef ribs, pulled from the bone) on small scallion pancakes with scallion slivers atop.

Beef broth with shoyu, a bit of gojuchang (chile miso paste), watercress and enoki mushrooms.

Sugar snap peas, just blanched and crunchy, dressed with sesame and chile oils and a bit of yuzu juice.

Lemon kimchi, cabbage kimchi, daikon kimchi.

Gohan (Japanese rice) cooked with a bit of seafood stock, gomasio (sesame salt).

    Green tea and sake sorbet.

    JInmyo, I love kalbi!

  4. Thursday

Change in schedule so am in town to cook tonight(Part of tonight's dinner cooked by my brother).

Roast pork chow mian noodles with Szechuan preserved vegetables, Chinese chives, black mushrooms, carrots

Curry Shrimp with baby bellas and chives

    Broccoli

    Schokolade Edelweiss

  5. Had a change in schedule so am in town to cook today.

After reading this thread earlier, I made the Schokolade Edelweiss mentioned by Rachel. While I did not taste more than a tiny bit, it seemed quite tasty. Everyone else liked it. As Rachel said basically a flourless chocolate cake-nice flavor with the dark chocolate that I used.

  6. Well, I'll let him know because he wanted me to tell him when I would reschedule for. He is such a pleasant gracious guy. I'll tell him it's an e-Gullet invasion with people from far away lands - Canada and New Jersey.

Thanks in advance for the recipe!

  7. Looking forward to meeting you, Marlene and Pan. Marlene, your chocolate babycakes sounded so good! Marlene, while I don't think there's steak at Amma there is a lovely, lovely lamb chop, if that works for you. And I think you can get a three course tasting menu.

Suzanne, will enjoy seeing you and HWOE again.

I was supposed to go to Amma this week but had a change in schedule so this is really good. I had to tell Suvir that I wasn't coming. So I could let him know that we're coming on the 30th.

The dinner I had there about two weeks ago was easily one of the best meals I have had in as long as I can remember. I have to post my review on the Amma thread.

  8. Tuesday

Going away for three days so made a big turkey that the assembled contingent can eat while I'm gone.

    Roast Turkey and Cornbread Stuffing

Sour cream and chive Yukon Gold mashed potatoes

    Brussels sprouts

    Mint ice cream for dessert

Also left them an assortment of dumplings to chomp on-pork and bitter melon, chicken and vegetable, and fish dumplings. I am not Dumpling for nothing!

  9. Yogi Tea makes a great Chai. I like to make my own mix with a bit of orange. After I simmer it for a few hours the house smells great.

I think their Tahitian Vanilla is good too, if I'm recalling the right name.

  10. Finally went there tonight with a friend. Friday night, seemed relatively busy until about 9:30. I asked for a decaf tea and the young waiter said he had Lipton. I asked if he had anything else and he said well we have regular tea and herbal tea. Apparently herbal tea did not translate to any form of "decaf" tea; I had to plum for it. In any event he seemed very obliging as was the waitstaff in general.

We ordered the breaded eggplant parmigian and the chicken marsala. The chicken was cooked alright. The marsala was okay but nothing to write home about. The mushrooms in the dish were fairly skimpy. I happen to make a nice one so perhaps I was being overly critical. The eggplant on the other hand was quite nice-my friend's dish. She gobbled the whole thing, which was a pretty fair size. For it to so entice a girl who's middle name is moderation to eat beyond her capacity, then it must be good. She particularly liked that it was breaded nicely as many eggplant dishes that she has had out are either not breaded well or not breaded.

    No desserts, too full.

Didn't try any of the things that Jason and alanz tried but will wander in in the future as it's so close.

  11. Thursday

    Inside out California Rolls

Strir Fried Tofu with bean sprouts, chopped baby bok choy, onions, rice wine and soy

Fried Brown Rice with egg, peas, some chicken stock, sesame oil and fresh ground sea salt.

Lighter dinner after made heavier lunch - home today to make lunch of Sausage and Peppers served with macaroni and mozzarella.

Have been doing the low carb thing now for about two and a half weeks. Carbs seen on my menu over that time and for the near future are probably only being consumed by others. Lost ten pounds of my voluptuous frame so I can become voluptuous-er(pardon the grammar). So I ate the tofu dish and skipped the others; just tried a tiny piece of the sushi to test it.

  12. Wednesday

    What a lovely dinner!

Tandoori Chicken-just came out beautifully considering no tandoor

    Cucumber Raita

Crispy fried Okra and onions with garam masala, cayenne, coriander and salt

    Tamarind Cauliflower

    Naan

Apart from the okra being slightly more cooked than I would have liked it while I was tending to the Naan, this was a very satisfying dinner. Well worth the time.

We had some broken sugar cookies that no one was eating. So I layered them in ramekins, then put in a mix of sauteed apples, cranberries, a little brown sugar and cinnamon. Then another layer of cookie crumbs and finally topped with melted dark chocolate. Chilled to firm up the chocolate top. A nice way to use broken cookies.
