Does crostini count? jinmyo, in the "Dinner!" discussion, posted a meal that included stewed tomatoes mixed with canned cannellini beans served on garlic crostini. I used Italian-seasoned canned stewed tomatoes heated with the beans (rinse the beans first to get that "gunk" off). I mashed about half the mixture to provide more body to it. It thickened up quite nicely. Once heated, serve on garlic crostini. Practically a meal in itself and quite good.

Correct! The cans of chicken mash were exploded near the beginning of the film so Horace Vandegelder's two assistants, Cornelius and Barnaby, could go off to the Big City. The turkey dinner with all the sides is from the Harmonia Gardens where Dolly enjoys a rather large meal with Horace ("I don't like beets!"). Can you feel the room swaying?

Thanks everyone for finding out the astronomical price of the Sub-Zero Pro 48. I find it encouraging though. Seeing the model that torakris has and also seeing the ridiculous high-end model that Sub-Zero has, it's good to see that consumer refrigerators are evolving and adapting to today's kitchen. I also hope this means that, eventually, these new features will cost less and less as the market develops.

Good morning, Gamers! Here's a recap of the movies still in play. The list may change a bit once I hear back on whether a previous guess was correct or not. 1. Egg yolk, a turkey drumstick, and birthday cake? Further clues to this movie: A cook making horrible pancakes and fried eggs while the dancing dishwasher flings plates at him; and eating popcorn while watching the movie Dumbo. 2. a spaghetti-proof bib, two pork chops and a few slaps round the chops........ 3. how about a disgusting bony, lethal chinese meal?? Tuna noodle casserole for Sunday dinner, and hot chocolate and lemon drops before bed. (Movie also contains catfish, and popcorn. ) CLUE: If it helps any, it was written by a Southern writer 8. Pie and sausages, POPOVERS and coffee... and everything 9. Some exploding rotten cans of chicken mash. And this: "Here is a lovely, a lovely [turkey] wing, for you...And some dumplings...And some giblets...some wine...have some beets... -I hate beets! ...You salt your beets and I'll salt mine." 10. Stuffed sheep's head and souffle. 11. Two people at eating dinner when a third one arrives and says "Is anyone eating this?" and takes the man's plate. 12. "... and mashed potatoes. Naw, CREAMED potatoes. An' peas an' onion rings". 13. "red hots.. get your red hots" ----------------------------------------------------- Note that the guesses for #7 were incorrect so it's still in play. I added another clue to that movie offered by the original poster. ***NOTE: If you post a movie, please check back to see if the guesses on your movie are correct or not so we can keep the "Still in Play" list accurate. Also, consider posting more clues if your movie remains unsolved.

Toliver, Duck & Forest: May I join the club? Most of the clues on this board are too tough for me to solve. That's why I like posting new clues instead. (Usually I have a vague memory of a food scene, but then I have to check the movie or the script for the details.) As for the people with these incredible movie memories--Wow. ← By all means, join in. So is it just eGulleteers who have a keen sense of food recall in the cinema? Carolyn, I will wait for a confirmation on #7 before I remove it from the list (I thought it was "Big Fish" from only the last two food items). Here's a recap of what movies are still in play: 1. (Movie also contains catfish, and popcorn. ) 8. Pie and sausages, POPOVERS and coffee... and everything ----------------------------------------------------------------- And let's add one more: 9. Some exploding rotten cans of chicken mash. "Here is a lovely, a lovely [turkey] wing, for you...And some dumplings...And some giblets...some wine...have some beets. ...You salt your beets and I'll salt mine."

"Singing in the Rain"? One of my faves... "Moses supposes his toeses are roses..."

I imagine that would be forrest gump. Apparently, I can only get the easy ones. That have the same name as me. Guess that won't happen too many more times! ← Yes! You and I-call_the_duck got it! I was going to mention the infernal "box of chocolates" but figured shrimp would be more fun. You're in good company, Forest...a lot of these have been over my head. I guess I should see more movies!

Funny Girl ? ← Yes! What a great memory! It's from the song "If a Girl isn't Pretty". The food seduction scene was during the song "You are Woman (I am Man)". edited for clarity
-
Yep! The corn was a given. The daughter choking on the hot dog was a pivotal scene towards the end of the movie. Congrats to you and Insomniac for getting that one. I_call_the_duck, don't give up! A new movie (easy!): There's shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple shrimp and lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp in potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. edited to add: In this next movie (different from the one above), there was one food-related seduction scene, but this food reference is from the lyrics of one of the songs in the film: "When a girl's incidentals are no bigger than two lentils..."

Some of those had previously been sovled and you were correct with some of your answers. Keep trying...you're doing very well.
-
Number 6 is NOT Lemony Snicket. It's from a much older classic black & white film.
-
Ding! Ding! You are correct! The milk & crackers was a sort of "frame" in the movie showing that at the end of the film she was no longer a child after her Roman romp with Gregory Peck.

Sub Zero makes a refrigerator similar to what Kris has: Sub Zero Pro48 It's larger and probably costs quite a bit more. I originally posted about this in another discussion because of the feature of sliding "hotel pans" that can be stored inside and can go directly into the oven.

Is #12 "Big Fish"?

I went back over the pages of this discussion and found the list was longer than I had posted. This should be the current unsolved movies: 1. Peanut butter and ground beef. Clues: Now, I already mentioned it might be cheating since was only in the movie due to the movie's subject matter...but if you do not hurry, you will not be able to eat this at the location in the film. You will have to use the "recipe" someone posted long ago in eGullet (!!) [Marlene's burger with PB] 2. a ritz cracker and chopped liver 3. French fries and gravy. 4. Eggs, oysters, whipped cream 5. Egg yolk, a turkey drumstick, and birthday cake? 6. "I'll sleep with you for a meatball." 7. a spaghetti-proof bib, two pork chops and a few slaps round the chops........ 8. "Say was that a Big Kahuna Burger? That's one tasty MF'er." 9. At the beginning of the film: milk & crackers. Towards the end of the film: "No milk & crackers." (Inbetween the two there was gelato, champagne & cold coffee) 10. a bowl of oatmeal on a toddler's head and chewing each bite of food a specific number of times to aid digestion 11. The buttering of a baguette as Sartori. 12. how about a disgusting bony, lethal chinese meal?? 13. ".......and a microwave that browns!.......melted cheese, ummmmm I don't think I EVER tasted melted cheese before." edited to add: 14. A large ham CLUE: about the size of a little girl
-
Sorry...you posted that right after your comment congratulating the winner of your previous puzzle so I (incorrectly) assumed it was a line from the same movie. I will add it to the list.
