  1. If Vivian is the same girl we got then yes she is really a breath of fresh air in service. Its not contrived, its genuine. She will also really try to help out with the menu. The owner is also a nice host, it seems like the whole staff enjoys themselves. You have to try the Pita next time, its really good.
  2. I almost got the Buratta the other day but I didn't because it didn't really look like buratta? I say that being a person of very limited buratta knoledge so I could be missing on this?
  3. I've never been here but th menu looks pretty tasty. The problem I would have is spending this amount of coin at a place named Green Pastures?
  4. I like Komart but I don't know if you will get the korean bbq experince there? If you do go the 3rd stall from left has some really good spicy squid. At Himalaya if you are going with a few people just have Kaiser suggest some dishes for you.;. He aways does a good job.
  5. I don't know if this was just a bad day but I was at Farmers Mrkt today and Tacambaro was not there! Lets hope it is a vacation thing. Jarro's on Gessner has some great tacos as well. No Sweetbread ones though. Himalaya is great, I had it twice in 4 days recently. My waistline already shows it.
  6. I hit Chicago Beef on Airline today for a Chicago Italian Beef. Pretty good job bringing the IB to town. The gadinera was ok and the bun a little big for my taste but overall it would hang with an avg IB in Chicago say a Prtillos, not the best (chicago)still worth eating. Also they have real fresh cut french fries and they are fried pretty well.
  7. Xiong's I do not believe has them. Classic kitchen right next door (owned I believe by the same people) does. ← There is family teahouse or something that is next door that actually has a little opening in the middle that would enable someone to pass an item over to the otherside. I didn't notice Classic Kitchen though.
  8. I like 13 degrees a lot. Probably my favorite wine bar.
  9. Robert, sounds good, I'll go with you on this. I was just guessing because it seemed ike they might be having some construction woes? November would be great, I will give it a try. If the que is as good as it was at the farmers mrkt then its going to be worth it.
  10. I had the steamed buns at Xiongs the other day because I was trying to find soup dumplings and I had heard they were hidden at Xiongs by the Steamed Bun name. Not really knowing what I was lookinh for with the exception of seeing them on some tv shows I would have to say that Xiongs does not have soup dumplings. It was basically a steamed dumpling with pork but no broth? Still Xiongs is awesome for the cilantro/chive dumpling and the cucumber pork noodles!
  11. I hit Cafe Pita last week for Bosnian food. I split the HUGE pita with cheese. Its a pastry filled with beef, spinach, potatoes or cheese and served with a side of what seemed to be a sour cream cheese? The pastry was excellent. Also split the beef sandwich which was served with a bun that almost resembled a large english muffin. It was pretty good, I got the stuffed kind. Its run by some very nice folks that seem very interested in pleasing the customer. Located on westheimer just west of beltway 8.
  12. I love the doner sandwich at Istanbul, the bread is probably my favorite in town. You can get a doner plate as well.
  13. High end creative cousine is dead in this town IMO. Sorry. And, I don't blame restaurant owners...its tough competing against steakhouses for the big ticket business diners. When I hear business people talk, they want to take their clients to Vic and Anthony's, Strip House, Pappas Steakhouse, Flemings, not DeMarco, Indika, Marks, Bistro Moderne...Its a shame that these good steak houses get most of that business.
  14. Well I went back and the meal brought back faith in Dolce. The prosciutto pizza and the sausage and rapini were spot on. So was this awesome braised pork with rigatoni with tomatoes.
  15. I bet simposio gets a revisit after itopens itsnew placeif it has not already?
  16. Supposed to be late october but I et December/January.
  17. Well I was able to sample some brisket while at the midtown farmers market(1 freaking person selling vegatables!) and the brisket was really good. All I had was a sample because they were selling it for $18 a pound but it was really good nonetheless. The smoke ring was 1/4 inch. I could see the brisket being near the best in town. The sauce on the other hand was not so good, it seemed liek they were going for "gourmet" to me but IMO gourmet should not be in que.
  18. I've had the fois gras bon bons when they weren't so good. Its just a different way to get your fat on. The shrimp and grits are pretty good, in fact the grits are really good no matter how they are served.
  19. The farmers mkt is great, those chiliquilllas are awesome. The local ingredients is a good thing. The problem I have with tafia is that I do not remember my meal there at all. Pretty avg IMO.
  20. Personallly, I liked Blvd Bistro much more than tafia.
  21. Well, if its an name of a place that was previously on site then its not as bad as I was thinking.
  22. Is the irony supposed to be funny? It just seems like an odd choice to me?
  23. I would hit Muellers in Taylor. You have to get there early though because you risk them runnung out. When Muellers is on they are as good as anyone. Sam's is cool but IMO its more the Sams experience at 1 am after a little too many drinks. Sauce here from what I remember is awesome. I also remember the ribs being very good.
  24. Tell me its just a nightmare but did I read that Monica Pope is opening up a BBQ joint on Washington and is naming it BEAVERS?

I guess this is too late but I was REALLY dissapointed. Its not that it was bad it just wasn't very good.
