  1. I can't tell you how ENVIOUS I am you can get Keith Floyd. On what station and where, may I ask? I never found his "quick slurp" to be said enough to be annoying though. I'd give my left...arm.. to watch this show, and was looking here on eG for a copy of "Floyd On France." Alas...
  2. Edited down to say "feh" who cares. I'll take the high road.
  3. LOL...See my edit, GG! Thanks Tommy.
  4. How about some: Pork fat RULES! Are yah with me? It's not rocket science! Oh yeah baby! (I see that was mentioned already..and it get my vote as well) Lets add some GARLIC...(has to emphasise that word, no matter what, so the audience can have their applause-fest...) And any of his wink-wink-nudge-nudge POOR sexual inuendos as he thinks they relate to his sausages, sauces, etc. He probably has dozens of others but I stopped watching him years ago basically because of the above. --- Wolfgang Puck: "Ummmm" or "Yummm" after every addition of ingredient Ina Garten: The constant grunting of "Uh!! UH!!" "UH! This is going to be SOOO good...UH!!" after eveything blessed thing she does. Let's add her bleating, staccato laugh in there too. "EHH EHHH EHHH EHHH EHHH EHHH."
  5. I think most foods could benefit from being packaged in Ziplock zipper-style bags. Ease of opening, and long lasting freshness. Ahhhhhhhh.... I usually dump everything into them eventually. I can't imagine life before Ziplock Bags.
  6. Exactly. And that's what I find so inceredibly exciting and interesting. I mean....Emeril says "it's not rocket science, folks" but when you think about it, it's darn close sometimes!
  7. Today I am looking forward to watching his Colonial Christmas video that I took from the library yesterday. I watched his Marinades video last night as well as the Italian one. I think if one had to sum up the man in one word "exuberant" would do very nicely. Joyously unrestrained and enthusiastic. Yep...that's him all right.
  8. He liked the phrase "WONDERFUL stuff!!" and used it a lot. And...I just finished his Italian Food video, and he used his...turkish coffee grinder for his pepper. Remember that? He also enjoyed a few "sips" much like our pals Graham Kerr (the old, fun one...not the new, healthy and improved one... ) and Keith Floyd. He told one interviewer he drank a bottle of wine per day. I can't be sure, but I think it was on Leno or Letterman many years ago when he did a little hot plate type cooking demo.
  9. I am having myself a little Frugal-Film-Festival later on. I just went to the library and picked up 4 of his videos. I have some more on order from other branches. Since I (we?) haven't seen him in years, it will be like walking down memory lane circa 1985. Yay! Saved myself a bundle of dough, too by using the library and not buying the tapes.
  10. I do believe that sauerkraut juice is a curative. It acts as a detoxifier, and natural laxative. It also has healthy bacteria in it. Much like yogurt. You can use kraut juice to start sour dough bread, as well. So...save that kraut juice....it's krautilicious.
  11. Zucchini, eh? I find it has no ABSOLUTELY no taste anyhow. Polyester of vegetables to me. Along with iceberg. Bleh. ::: shrug ::::
  12. Say WHAAAT? That's gotta be the wierdest one yet...:shaking head: There all ALL SORTS of superstitions regarding women baking and cooking during their periods. Everything done during "this time of the month" is supposed to go HORRIBLY wrong. Bread will not rise. Don't even try it!! And if you like shark....jump in the ocean!! You'll attract, and catch a tasty one during your menses!!
  13. Oh dearie me! I get that stuff in my mouth and I want to spit. Fascinating how different we all can be!
  14. No offense to anyone.....please...but some of the posts in this thread are about Household Hints or Food Tips and not "superstition" regarding foods. Avocado pits in the guacamole is a food tip. http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book...ition&x=20&y=12
  15. They used to use beef fat. And man...I bet the fries tasted good. There was a case just a few years ago with some Hindu people suing and McD's. McD's said they used beef extract when they fry the fries, but not beef tallow. I would think if you're strict vegetarian, that may be a problem. I don't remember the outcome of the suit. Anyone?
  16. I can't really tell if you're kidding...so I'll just say that not all functions of a chicken come out of her oviduct. I certainly do not defecate from my vagina. And...babies don't grow in my tummy either.
  17. No one makes a grilled cheese sammich like my Mom. Rye bread, buttered, and Cabot cheddar cheese, thinly sliced and piled on. Non-stick pan with a bit of veg oil in it. That's it. And I CANNOT make them like she does. I leave them to her to make for me when I visit her. They're ambrosia to me.
  18. what's that? (sorry, stupid question) The tamale is the liver of the lobster.
  19. You use your hot ice pick thingie?
  20. Is that the Asian method of simmering the chicken for about 20 minutes and then removing from heat and letting it cook in the hot liquid? I think I remember him doing that.
  21. And we can assume it wasn't due to bad oysters, yes? :: wink-wink :::
  22. I think the cancer thing in the subject header was just a mistake. No sources say it was cancer that took him. It's the same Reuters story in all the papers, etc. Died in his sleep. Not a bad way to leave this world. [Moderators note: For those who are wondering why anyone is talking about cancer, it was mistakenly part of the header. That's been corrected.]
  23. Yeah...it's a part of a chicken or turkey my whole family decided a while back no one is "supposed to" eat. Toss that useless thing in the stockpot!
  24. WOW...this news really kinda shocked me. It's been a while since any "classic" food TV personality popped his clogs. Cancer? Where does it say cancer??
