We are going to Manchester for our annual trek and wouldn't miss Laney's for ribs, Mistrals and Chanticleer. Three truly wonderful restaurants.

Where can I get some Indian/Alphonso Mangoes in NJ?
coughy replied to a topic in New Jersey: Cooking & Baking
After reading all the above postings I was surprised to find Indian mangoes at the Kings in Verona. I was ready to buy them but they all felt very overripe and mushy. I think I was 3 days too late. -
Mark Joseph's is 261 Water Street, near the Brooklyn Bridge. Excellent steaks and the best calamari I every had. Enjoy!

How about Mark Josephs? The steak is delicious.

My husband and I will be in Montreal for only one night. We are staying at the Ritz Carlton but we will have a car. Any suggestions? Price is not an issue. Thanks

We just returned from our first dinner here. We were thrilled with our appetizers. I had the sweet corn empanada with goat cheese and my husband had ceviche. Both were really delicious. We ordered a rib eye steak and a combination of skirt steak, short rib and chorizo to share. We also ordered delicious garlic fries. The meat tasted okay but the quality was not very good at all; tough, fatty and chewy. Dessert was wonderful. We shared crepes and a chocolate enchilada. We decided if we ever go back we will eat 2 appetizers and dessert. Service, by the way, was efficient and friendly.

I was at Montclair High School also for an enjoyable evening with Floyd Cardoz. I found him to be funny and entertaining and most certainly not full of himself as other big name chefs are known to be. I look forward to other events - keep us posted. robin

Has anyone been here lately? We are supposed to eat here this weekend but I read some scary stories about their service. Any info? Thanks

Husband and son voted for Osteria del Circo. We had a beautiful, delicious dinner with excellent service. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

We, husband, son and myself, will be having dinner on Friday. Any feedback on Beacon? Burger Joint sounds great but we are afraid it is so small we won't get in.

Going to City Center this week and would like some ideas for restaurants in the neighborhood. Any price is okay. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion but Rickys is only open until 9pm on Friday and we probably won't be out of the theater until at least 10. I guess I'll have to bake!

The boys are 16. What is Ricky's?

My son's birthday is this weekend. We are taking him and a bunch of friends to the Community Theater in Morristown for a comedy show and would like somewhere to go between Morristown and Livingston after the show for dessert.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We did wind up eating at Stephanies on Newbury on Saturday night. I am happy to report that the food was very good - the many choices on the menu pleased everyone. I was worried about the service but our waiter could not have been nicer. My husband and I did have lunch at a place called Parish on Boylston. What a great spot for lunch. Mainly sandwiches that are creations of the more famous Boston chefs. I had the Blue Ginger which was fresh tuna on delicious foccacia with an asian slaw. I would definitely recommend this little find.

Brick Oven in Florham Park is a BYO with good, not fancy, Italian food. I am not sure, though, if they are open on Mondays.

Don't even bother trying to get a kosher rotesserie chicken at the WO Shop Rite late on a Friday night. The kosher department closes early on Fridays - not open on Saturday either - and they sell out pretty early. The chickens are good but are on the small side.
-
There are salad bars in Kings and Shop Rite. Also, Panera has salads.
-
We really don't have a budget but I would like not to spend more than $60-70 per person for food. What is wrong with the choices on Newbury? Have you ever dined at Stephanies?

Okay - so our plans have changed and it is no longer just my husband and me dining on Saturday night. We are now taking three hungry college students to dinner but would still like to be close to our hotel - Ritz Carlton, Boston Common. HELP!!!

My husband and I are going to be staying at the Ritz Carlton, Boston Common. We would like a restaurant, price no object, within walking distance. Any suggestions?

Just came from lunch at the Ritz Diner in Livingston with a friend. As we were both going on to run different errands we visited the ladies room and were appalled at the deplorable condition. When we went up to the register to pay we mentioned to the owner that she might want to send someone in to the bathroom to clean it up. She flew off the handle and told the hostess to take over the register because she had to go in to clean the "mess made by her disgusting customers." We paid and left and as we were saying goodbye in the parking lot this "crazed" woman came running out screaming at us that there was one piece of paper on the floor and how dare we complain. Needless to say we will NEVER go back. It is my recommendation that if you need to go to the bathroom while dining in the Ritz that you visit the Exxon station up the street. It has to be cleaner!

We ahve been to Chester a number of times. I think the name was Riamede Farms. The apples were great.

We love Storm King Art Center. It is on Rt 32North just north of Woodbury Commons - exit 16 on the NY Thruway. If you are lucky you can get a reservation at the CIA for lunch or dinner.
