I think--you need to call and ask--but Sweet Basil's only serves lunch now. Montclair is restaurant heaven. Check it out. Also, there are a list of Montclair restaurants here: http://www.baristanet.com/barista/food.html Scroll down the page.
Desert Moon Fresh Mexican Grille in the Essex Green Shopping Center, West Orange also has fresh made Mexican food. I like their chili. Sounds similar to the places you are writing about.
A FYI: On Nov. 28 a four year anniversary dinner with matching wines will be celebrated at Restaurant Nicholas at 6:30 PM. Cost is $125 plus tax and gratuity. Call 732-345-9977 for reservations.
Betsy--Thank you so much for your informative response. For the record I have always found the NJRA association to be helpful in an extremely timely manner. They have always immediately responded to my questions or requests for information.
"They did have French Press pots of specialty coffee, including Kona, which I love, but I doubted I'd drink an entire pot ($8)," It is so unusual to see French Press coffee. I would have ordered that without hesitation. Thanks for the report.
This is not what you are looking for but Berta's Chateau, 7 Grove St, Wanaque has wine dinners that start with an extensive antipasto typical of the region highlighted. Otherwise I know of no restaurant that serves an Italian buffet at lunchtime. The only place I have had an Italian buffet is at a wedding.
Tommy--had some great wine last night at Becco, 46th St. NYC. Had an app and dessert at the bar. Tell Brent the bartender that you heard about him on eGullet. Also, Craig who used to be the manager at Blue Sky Cafe, Montclair works there.
There is an Italian deli across the street from the Livingston post office on Rt 10 (Mt Pleasant Ave). It's a little house. Try their subs and let us know.
