  2. Call The Jefferson in Hoboken and see if they are open that late. I know that they are offering a seven fish menu on December 24: oysters on the half shell; sea scallops crudo; tuna bresaola; roasted mussels; monkfish saltimbocca; clams acqua pazzo; and pan seared New England cod. $45; $65 with wine. For information and reservations call 201-386-9955.

    Lalezar

Dinner was at Lalezar and I was anxious to see if the bread was the same as my first visit. It was addictive then, not this time. Although it was hot and similar to what we had a few weeks ago it was not the same. The owners told me it was the same bread and that they vary what they put in the bread basket. In any case, our dinner was fine. Started off with coban salad with feta cheese and a large combo appetizer. The appetizers were wonderful and very filling. I particularly liked the humus which had a hint of tahini. The babagannus, fried eggplant in a tomato sauce, tabbouleh, grape leaves and bean salad were also tasty. Lowell had the skewered lamb cubes which were tender and tasty. A friend had grilled chicken kabob which was reported to be very good also. Although the vegetable stew had a kick to it I wouldn’t recommend it as the vegetables were mushy and there was nothing special about this dish. We didn’t have dessert or coffee. I wasn't as enthralled with this restaurant as I was on my first visit but certainly would return here and it is a good place to go with a large group.
  8. Both! It's a new name and a new concept. Same owners. ← What's the new concept? Both names still seem Italian - what other concept could there be? ← Homepage is here: http://www.lambertis.com/locations/d_08034.html Also check out FAQ. I'll see if I still have the PR they sent me.
  9. Can you tell me about La Dolce Vita, Wharton and Warehouse Grille, Jefferson? Never been to either.
  10. Both! It's a new name and a new concept. Same owners.
  11. Chef Toni left a few months before the restaurant closed.
  12. I was there once and did not care for the food. However, this restaurant recently received a very good review.

  14. It can be anywhere you ate in 2004 that you want to put on your list. Doesn't matter if they are newly opened or not.
  15. This is what I came up with but my list is subject to change! What are your favorite restaurants for 2004? Amanda’s, Hoboken An American Grill, Randolph Cinque Figlie, Whippany Corso 98, Montclair Dining Room at Anthony David’s, Hoboken Epernay, Montclair Fascino, Montclair Frog and the Peach, New Brunswick Girasole, Bound Brook Greek Delights, Montclair Hunan Cottage, Fairfield Il Forno, Montclair The Jefferson, Hoboken Jocelyne’s, Maplewood Kyoto, Florham Park Nicholas, Red Bank Park Steakhouse, Park Ridge Tapas de Espana, North Bergen Zoe’s By the Lake, Sparta

  17. Click Here December 19, 2004 http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=e...UVFeXk2NjI4MTMx Anyone been to Villa Roberto's?
  18. Do you mean Rosario’s Butcher Shop 252 Park St Upper Montclair? The only thing I have had from there is the escarole and bean soup which was tasteless. Would certainly go back to try other items that they make.

    Lalezar

If Lalezar is not good the next time I go then I will go back to the Turkish restaurants in Clifton/Paterson. Also, Greek Delights in Montclair is consistantly very good.
  20. Be sure to check Jason's article on Wondee's in the NJ section of the NY Times December 19, 2004. Great article Jason. It's always a pleasure to read your reviews.

It's interesting that this restaurant got better reports when they first opened then now.
  22. I called a few weeks in advance. I would also recommend that you make reservations for lunch.

    Corso 98

We had a wonderful dinner at Corso 98. Started off with crispy calamari served with marinara sauce and chitarra pasta bolognese which is my favorite. Entrees were veal osso bucco with creamy polenta, wilted spinach, crispy artichokes, and oven roasted tomatoes; Lowell’s “must have” of roasted suckling pig; pan seared duck breast with wild rice, wilted spinach, and malt vinegar sauce; and pan-seared scallops served over salsa salad. The scallops were actually a special appetizer that I asked the kitchen to make as an entrée. We were stuffed and shared a dish of cappuccino crunch ice cream for dessert. Corso 98 is a gem. Try to go on a weekday as they are very busy on weekends; BYO.
  24. What is the name of the the sushi place that took over the spot across from Rite Aid on South Orange Avenue and how long ago did they take the place over. What was there before? Thanks.
  25. Agent Orange--Welcome to eGullet. Have you been to Haru on Academy St and if so is it worth the ride? Also, it has been years since I have been to Cafe Arugula. Any info?
