    table 8

Table 8 donated all of the proceeds from last night to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. We were a table of six so we were able to taste all of the choices on the special three course dinner. Everything was scrumptious and the service was perfection. We had: Appetizers Wild mushroom soup, with aged balsamic vinegar and black truffle oil Warm ricotta cheese tart, baby arugula salad, and sliced prosciutto Risotto of butternut squash, smoked bacon, sage, and toasted seeds Entrée Niman ranch pork chop with roasted root vegetables, parsnip puree and a red wine reduction Grouper with basil pesto cous cous, mascarpone, and roasted tomato beurre blanc Hand cut pappardelle with shrimp, Thai coconut sauce, and shiitaki mushrooms Dessert Passion fruit tart with fresh raspberries and white chocolate shavings Warm molten chocolate cake with hazelnut ganache, hazelnut ice cream and chocolate sorbet Warm Granny Smith apple financiere with caramel, cinnamon ice cream and cranberry sauce

    East Tokyo

No. Taste of Asia is no longer in South Orange. They are in Chatham. I have them listed on my Openings and Closings page.

    East Tokyo

We were recently at Ariyoshi Japanese Restaurant 54-56 W South Orange Ave, South Orange (973-378-8818); BYO and thought it was excellent. We also like Zen, Livingston. Recently returned with a party of 6 to Kyoto, Florham Park and no one was happy with their food.Additionally, the seats were sticky. Everytime we leaned back our clothes would stick to the chair.
  5. NO!! Didn't have time to roll $250 plus of pennies. Sure would have loved to attend this event though. Info is on Table Hopping With Rosie/Restaurant News this week. http://www.njmonthly.com/rosie/rosiemain.html
  6. I heard today that there are empty stores in Somerville and that the shopping center was going to be torn down. What about the shopping center where K-Mart is located on Prospect and Eagle Rock?
  7. Doris and Ed's in my opinion is the best seafood restaurant that I have eaten at in NJ. Food is anything but boring. Chef Dare's creations are innovative, tasty and worth every penny. It's my opinion. It's ok if you don't agree with me!
  8. We were there on a Sunday and there were a few fish specials. The calamari was also a special.
  9. There is an empty store on Bloomfield Ave where A Taste of Asia was located. Near Lalezar and the art museum. The parking is pretty lousy though. Take a ride down Bloomfield Ave in Caldwell. There are some vacant stores.
  10. Sogno and Le Fandy are BYO. Not sure about Citrus or Savannah Grill. Thanks for update Cartman and welcome to eGullet.
  11. Sogno in Red Bank Doris and Ed's in the Highlands is the best seafood restaurant in NJ.

    Le Carousel

I agree but stuffed rigatoni, chicken Monte Carlo, Capon Florentine, and veal scallopini are some of the menu items. They also have tapas listed such as wonton shrimp, beer battered calamari, shrimp and crab spring rolls, fried ravioli and tuna tartare. I guess it would be fair to say it is an eclectic menu.

    Le Carousel

It's the same owner of Top Notch. Just a different name and an Italian style menu.
  16. We ate at Orbis 128 Watchung Avenue, Upper Montclair, about 5-6 years ago and while it was good then it wasn’t good enough at the time to run back so fast. Well, we did get here tonight and I am thrilled to tell you that our dinner was fabulous. Matt—last name unknown—is the chef and cooked a flawless dinner for us. We shared an extremely tender calamari that was served in a spicy Thai chili, cilantro, and mint sauce. It was a special and if offered be sure to order it. Entrees were a hanger steak served medium rare with a cabernet shallot demi-glace. The menu listed the steak as being accompanied with shoestring potatoes but I was served French fries. Lowell had an excellent miso marinated pork chop accompanied with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We shared a fresh peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert. With one cup of coffee the bill was $75. For reservations call 973-746-7641; BYO.

  20. I believe it is 3 out of 4 stars.
  21. The Jefferson received 3 stars from SJ Gintzler in the Friday September 9, 2005 Star Ledger.

  23. Get NJ Bride magazine. They may have some info.
  24. Will be in Charleston for 3 nights. In addition to what has been recommended are there any small restaurants worth visiting that only the locals know about? They can be expensive or cheap. Are any restaurants BYO or do they charge a corkage fee?

I loved Lana's in Clark (Chef Campos' last gig) so I am not surprised to hear that you love Lorena's! Rosie, did you ever make it to Lana's when he was there? ← No.
