What a lovely and fun-looking experience! Thanks... and do they serve lunch, or only dinners?

Rachel, another devotee of matzo ball soup, here. I usually make a huge batch in the fall and freeze it, in anticipation of the day that I become too ill to actually prepare anything. If I'm too sick, and haven't stocked up, I rely upon copious amounts of fiery tom yum soupl

There is no good 'Chinese' food in this area, but I was home late from the lab and desperate: broccoli in garlic sauce; steamed dumplings with dipping sauce (the sauce, actually, was quite nice). Later: No, not the whole pint.

Wow, Susan! I, ah, I just had pizza. It was good pizza.

Dude, you are rockin' my Monday! Very exciting- thanks for letting us peek over your shoulder on this venture.

The weather was blissful and beautiful, so my husband smoked some ribs, and I made a no-mayo coleslaw:

Carolyn, thanks for the excellent info. This is definately something to keep in mind.... Bombdog, we will do some bike nonetheless, and will look up your company.

Thanks. My husband was very amused when he saw it.

Last night, brined wings that had been in the freezer... juicy and perfect! Celery, of course, and some Roaring 40s blue because I was too lazy to actually make a dip. Phaelon, your pizza experiments prompted me to whip up some dough last night.

At least I'm not alone! In fact, when my husband calls me picky, perhaps I should reply that I just know what I like. bleudauvergne, you indeed have a heart of gold.

Last night, I once again found myself in the unfortunate position of having to fake it. The smiles, the low gasp, the closed eyes... while I've never had to fake an orgasm, I sometimes find myself in the position of having to fake enjoying a meal. It was a warm and sticky night, and my husband was craving Italian. There is no good Italian in this little town, but one restaurant makes a decent attempt, and a killer salad, to boot. I ordered the salmon and scallops with red peppers, spinach, and mushroom; he got the spaghetti and clams in marinara. When our meals arrived, he dug into his with relish, exclaiming over the perfect hint of spice, the freshness of the clams. I was less than enamoured of my own meal. After having scallops fresh from the ocean just last week, these tired little specimens didn't quite live up to my expectations. There were 4 ragged pieces of baby spinach strewn across the plate, and two slice of wilted red pepper. The salmon was somewhat dry; the mushrooms were from a can. And everything came perched on top of a ridiculously large mountain of pasta, which was not hinted at upon the menu, nor mentioned by the server. My husband could tell I was seriously not enjoying the scallops, so I faked enjoying the rest of it, just so that we could have an enjoyable evening, without him worrying that I was getting stiffed on my meal. But still. IT SUCKED. When did I get so damned picky? Do you ever find yourself in this deplorable situation?

Hi Drew- The farmer's market in Williamsburg will re-open on May 1st, and is held every Saturday thereafter. Here's the website: Williamsburg Farmer's Market

Chicken parmesan on spinach (for me, at least... my husband had his over pasta), some Perlat , some salad.

Dinner at Williamsburg's 'The Fat Canary', in honor of my grandfather's birthday. The cake was just dreamy.

My in-laws have already volunteered to take a pound or so off of our hands. Very sweet of them.

Actually, you're not going to believe this, but my husband didn't even eat his portion. He doesn't really like scallops... something about the texture, he claims, isn't quite right. But he is always willing to occasionally re-try a disliked food, just to see if his tastebuds have come around yet. Alas, last night, they still hadn't. But it was so lovely of him to make the effort to get these, and cook them up, on top of it.

torakris, you always have the yummiest sounding dishes. Seeing them is almost too much! Last night, I was blessed with fresh scallops in a white wine-thyme sauce:

Well, the scallop boat finally came in for us. Last night, my husband walked in the door with a 5 pound bag of the little beauties: We wasted no time in whipping up dinner. A quick sear in the pan on the stove. They were removed, and my husband added chopped pancetta (for some reason, he chose not cook it fully, but it still flavoured the sauce nicely), garlic, a tidge more oil, white wine, and thyme. Heavenly: Thanks for your input. And just so you know, it seems that we may be getting flounder next week.

"General Tso's" Chicken, with kimchee and steamed green beans.

Thanks for your trip reports! I'm heading to Napa/Sonoma/San Francisco in May, and have been keeping meticulous eGullet restaurant reports. However, I now realize that I had forgotten about the resplendent In-N-Out burger, being an out-of-the-loop Easterner as well.

My husband came into some fresh-from-the-ocean crab meat, so we had crabcakes and salad:
-
Well, after all of that, it seems that the scallop boat didn't come in last night. Luckily, the crab boat did, so we had to suffice with freshly picked lump. Crab cakes rock. We're going to be in a touch with our new connection for a bit, so I'm sure scallopos are somewhere in the near future.

Nice... I hadn't even considered using them as cerviche.

markf, we're seeing a warming cycle here in Virginia, so grilling is a possibility. And yes, I am a very, very lucky girl! pattimw- I just happen to have some lonely little slices of pancetta in the fridge, so would love to have a peek at the recipe! Thanks, babka.... if my pancetta has faded, this sounds most appetizing. You just can't go wrong with Ms Hazan.
