  1. Charles, Do you happen to know were I can get a decent recipe for the Buckwheat pancakes. I found several and tried a simple one. It was great, but want to expand my horizons. Also, I found some crepe recipes. Have you tried them as crepes? Chefvic123
  2. Charles, Make sure you get the flour that is milled for cereal. I think my suplier has three different grades. The kind for cereal cost a $1 more per bag. Hell no, I didn't buy them. Maybe I should read the label. Chefvic123
  3. OK, this pony has not been beat to death yet. I was looking in one of my suppliers catalogs today and I notice they have a section on knives. I found some very inexpensive knives by Russell Harrington. The "white handled" series look great for some one who needs to save a buck. Like most commercial ventures. I found a good looking 8" chef's knife for $16. Any one with some experience with the line? I did order 2-3 knives to have a look see. One of them was a 10" chef jobby for $18 bucks. The two others were designed for sandwich making. I will report back on my impressions. Chefvic123
  4. Sounds like you are getting ready to dig up the yard. I grow my on herbs for the kitchen. I container garden. In large self water container. I put the containers on skids and have it all mounted on wheels. This way I can roll up what is in season or what ever I need. If I am doing tomatoes I occasionally will have to move the plants to catch better sunlight. What ever! There are are plenty of websites available on gardening that are general and plant specific. The seed producers will be happy to provide information on getting the best from their seeds. Chiefvic123
  5. Charles, Everytime I cruise past your post I pause and think of the Buckwheat pancakes I use to eat as a kid. Did you know Buckwheat is not made from wheat? I will pick up a package of the flour this Saturday. My son likes buckwheat as a hot cereal and thinks of them as being better that oatmeal. I also think so. Thanks for turning me on to buckwheat again. Chefvic123
  6. I have been doing some poking around on the forum here and have found a referance to "The Strip", this is probably the area I have been searching. Do you have any idea if the area you mentioned has a name? Maybe this is it. I am not familiar with Pittsburg. I have only been there to change planes. Thank you, Chefvic123
  7. I understand there is an area of Pittsburg where specialty food shops exist. Is this true and what part of town might this be?
