    Dinner! 2007

My first post in the dinner forum! This was my attempt at the ultimate meatball sandwich. Homemade garlic bread, grandmas famous sauce, homeground chuck and pork for the meatballs, fresh mozz, and smoked provolone. I served it with baked potato wedges, and zinfandell. http://forums.egullet.org/uploads/11986094..._5534_61356.jpg And the bread pirate! http://forums.egullet.org/uploads/11986094..._5534_23812.jpg It was tasty! Jeff EDIT- I'm not sure why I posted links instead of actual images. I'll work on that-Thanks!
  2. I got a new Kitchen Aid Professional 600 (replacing my 12 year old 5 qt model). I can't wait to try the new power knead dough spiral. Jeff
  3. Actually I can find them at TJ Maxx for that price pretty regularly. They also carry the smaller sizs for even less. BTW- I like them crushed on good vanilla ice cream drizzled with some balsamic. Jeff
  4. When I make red sauce I was taught to ALWAYS start the garlic, and red pepper in cold oil then add tomatoes later for the very reason you mentioned. The oil picks up more flavor from the garlic, and chili flakes I was told. Now that I think about it I suppose there is a finite amount of flavor in a slice of garlic, and maybe a quick hot fry gets it all out-my grandma would knock me in the head with a wooden spoon if she saw me do it though. Costco

I bought a can of these, and used them yesterday. I believe they say packed in the "San Marzano Region", so I'm not sure they were true SM's. They were ok-lots of smaller tomatoes which means more seeds, and they were a little gritty feeling. That being said I made a long cooked gravy with them, and it was pretty good. That price is fantastic, but I can't say for sure if I'll buy them again. Jeff
