i plop down more for a budweiser. you gotta remember though, this is an "antioxidant superpower". you can't front on dat.
  4. Oh good. Then it wasn't just me. How does a company like Kyocera make such a no-good product? How can a company like Williams Sonoma actually sell something like that? Doesn't someone try this stuff before they crank up the manufacturing and marketing? Sheesh. ming seems to endorse it.

their website lists 6 15.2 ounce bottles for 20 bucks. jhlurie, are you sure you're thinking of the right stuff? that doesn't seem "extreme" to me. especially if you're mixing it with some prosecco. the stuff goes a long way.

at kings, i think a bottle is about 4 or 5 dollars. at least i *think*. maybe i should double check the next time i buy it!
  7. you've never lost track of your glass when there are 3 or 4 on a table? i have, and i use those things whenever i think of it. the problem is, i always forget which freakin charm i am.
  8. it's good to see some interest. i know it's nuts with the holidays coming up, but perhaps an early sunday dinner wouldn't get in the way of previous obligations? i know i'm pretty booked every saturday. fridays might work for people as well, but it's tough if you're traveling. we're open to suggestions here people.
  9. susan, be sure to check out this thread.
  10. i think sam will be here in a matter of minutes to disprove your theory with scientific evidence and an eGCI course.

    Beaujolais Nouveau 2003

i had 2 tonite, plus one from California, just for shits 'n giggles. Georges Deboeuf 2003 $7.99: First thought: Bubbleyum (oddly, that changed, somehow, to Bubblelicious after a few more sips, but i see Carema stole that descriptor ). cherry Bubbleyum. Nice acidity. Red/purple berries. Beringer 2003 (California) $6.99: slightly less acidic than the GD. a bit of earth. almost woody, with some notes of tobacco. as it opened up, some herbaceousness came out. a very drinkable wine, much to my surprise. Durdilly 2003 $8.99: no nose to speak of. very mellow acidity. little to no finish. where's the fruit? the beringer is my favorite so far, but that has nothing to do with this thread. GD definitely has the most festive label of these 3. i then moved on to see how the wines would stand up to El Pasa tacos. the Beringer performed quite well with the spicy/sweet/salty treats. GD held its own. and the Durdilly, well, she didn't have a dog in this particular race. this was a blind tasting, and i thought for sure the third (Durdilly) was the California wine, as the first two were so similar stylistically, and flavor-wise.
  14. have you liked recent years'?
  15. i've noticed that sommeliers will often walk away and open the bottle discreetly, oftentimes giving it a sniff or a taste.
  16. use the force, luke i mean, the flavor wheel. actually, i don't think much of the wheel will be used, save the "fruit" 1/8th.
  17. i'm good for tomorrow night. or maybe i'll cheat and have some tonite. i've started a thread here to post notes and thoughts. k?
  18. so apparently 2003 is supposed to be a great year for this normally undrinkable wine, according to this thread. a few of us are buying some, and plan on posting our thoughts here. i hope more will join.
  19. i'm finding the equipment from Home Depot quite well-constructed.

i'm confused and don't have the paper. was it 4, or 3 stars. a big difference. 4 would be very impressive indeed.

you beat me to it. it goes wonderfully in prosecco. at a decent dinner party, i offered several bottles of prosecco, along with pomegranate juice, peach nectar, and another nectar of some sort, and i let people mix their own cocktails. they went nuts over the pmegranate. and it's festive, for the holidays.
  24. matthew and i plan on tasting these wines and posting our thoughts on a new thread. we'd do it together, but we live 1000 miles apart. so we'll do it virtually. if anyone else is interested, PM either one of us. and for those of you who said this year will be decent, i sure hope you're right. on second thought, no need to PM. you could just post that you're interested here i suppose. we'll hopefully be drinking these by this weekend. yes matt?
