    new food

i was wondering if you guys can help me out and give me some ideas for this new food assignment for my food science class since i'm majoring in nutrition and food studies. I have to come up with a new food that's a spin off on something that's available - it can be an old family recipe, etc. However, the new food isn't available on the market and it has to combine two or more ethnic cultures. The professor gave us examples such as spaniko-pizza, it's a take off on pizza with a Greek twist by using phyllo or there were these edi's crisps, which are endamame crisps, it's a take off on glenny's soy crisps. So any ideas or input would be nice, thanks.
  7. what food combos give you the upset tummy but yet you can't seem to stay away from?
  8. i was wondering if you guys know what chick pea is in chinese cantonese or mandarin? thanks.

    Icky Brown Rice

i use the nishiki brand...medium grain brown rice. the smell could be the nuttiness...should i add onions or what to overcome that smell?
  10. so i've started cooking brown rice about a day or two ago and it's come to my attention that i can't stand the scent of brown rice. i have no problem eating it but when the scent hits me, it turns me off from even taking a single bite. is there a way to get rid of the scent? as well, what are some ways you like to cook brown rice? thanks
  11. and also after cutting it, should i run the pineapple under warm/cold water?
  12. it's my first time purchasing a fresh pineapple and i was wondering how to cut it? i've read many ways how but i would like your input and opinion on what ways worked for you. if you can, it would be wonderful to see a step by step guide to cut open a pineapple in pictures would be great. as well, i read there are brown eyes on the pineapple and we can't eat it so i was wondering how do we take them out and such? thanks.
  13. sorry, in addition to all those questions, i would like to know what kind and brand of brown rice you eat? thanks.
  14. i am planning to switch to jasmine brown rice or brown rice in general so i was wondering how does it taste? does it taste different than white rice and if so, is the difference large? do you like it?
