  1. Tommy, I have never been to the Bloomfield Farmers Market but thanks for the kind thoughts.
  2. Elyse, didn't you promise to make me a blueberry pie? Any fruit pie would be great. Remember, I can't eat pecans.
  3. If you made as much money as those waiters, you'd never leave either.
  4. My bad. I think I got this confused with a discussion that we had about Bella Rosa in East Hanover where the food quality certainly has gone down.
  5. Just back from lunch at this restaurant. Food was very good. I had the Cuban Sandwich. Nice sized portion, pork was moist and my mouth is still tingling from the chipotle dressing. Co-worker had a burger with cheese and pancetta. Both entrees came with a small salad on the plate, each were $8.99. Service was prompt and professional. Specials were quoted without prices. We didn't have coffee so I don't know if the expresso machine has been fixed. A pretty room with a gas fired oven in one corner for cooking bread and pizzas, there is seating out front for those who want it. I'll definately go back as I work close by.
  6. True enough, but you have to admit that the quality of the food had gone down before they threw in the towel. As a matter of fact, I think that you did admit this either here or at the Egullet lunch at An American Grill last fall.
  7. Shouldn't the demise of Blue Sky and 28 help a competing restaurant serving similar food? I haven't been to Sweet Basil's but I was at both 28 and Blue Sky and in both cases I wasn't surprised when they called it quits. I think that when one of these "hot" places goes "cold" all the air tends to come out of the balloon at once. I know that 28 hung on for a long time but I think it died a slow and painful (for those paying to eat there) death.
  8. John, could you post the information on Usinger's. How many, how much and phone number? I'm curious to try them. Also, where can you get the Best Provisions dogs that you speak so highly of? I live in Somerset County but am in Union, Essex, Morris all the time. BTW, I'm still working my way through your top ten list that was printed in the NY Times Jersey section. Being from Elizabeth I was glad to see that you included Jerry's in your round up. But I have to admit that I was puzzled to see you included the Galloping Hill Inn (still Peterson's in my mind). I remember being about 8 years old and petrified about the midget who worked there. I was always afraid that if he touched my food that I'd never get any taller. Childish nonsense I know but a vivid memory none the less. And I never thought the dogs there were that good. One last thing: when you go to Charlie's in Kenilworth do you always get the Italian dog or do you sometimes get the sausage? I've heard that the sausage there is excellent.
  9. I recommend both Madrid Restaurant and Manolo Restaurant in Elizabeth. Madrid has more typical Spanish food and Manolo a more adventurous variety. I prefer fish and shellfish to meat when eating at either place, except for Chorizo which is excellent in both.

    Asiate

Do you mean NoMi? This is also a hotel restaurant, in the Park Hyatt hotel in Chicago.
  11. As far as I can tell this is a thankless task. I know of no good Chinese Restuarants around Morristown. I've been to the places mentioned in Madison and Denville but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at either one of them, no offense to the poster's.
  12. I'm off every Monday
  13. Lou, sorry for the oversite. Of course you would catch the invite. And yes, Sparks is in someways better (wine list, wine value, varied menu, location and sometimes a better steak) but there's something about PL, at least for my money, and now you can have bacon! Suzi, you and the hawks (and the widening gyre for that matter) are always welcome at my table.
  14. Say it ain't so. Despite what Rosie says this is a must have experience. And Fat Guy says that its great at lunch. Maybe another lunch with you, me and the Rock is in order.
  15. I had a rib eye at the River Palm Terrace about a month ago which ranked with the best steaks I have eaten at either Peter Luger or Sparks. Other times I have been to the RPT and been dissapointed, how much of this do you blame on the restaurant and how much on the cow? I have heard that River Palm opened a location at the Sheridan Crossroads but I have not confirmed this as true. Anyone have info?
  16. suzilightning, could you provide more information on this restaurant. I used to work in Chester and there wasn't a decent place to eat in the whole town. Glad to hear things have changed a little.
  17. One more example of bad things being pinned on the Jews.
  18. Lou, shouldn't you be working? Its Saturday night at 10PM. I meant CF as if you didn't know.
  19. RS, do they do lunch?
  20. Tommy here's that picture of you holding the steak sandwich. I wasn't going to post this because I thought there would be too many photos but since you asked... Also I figured it would give your public another view of you, a small, hairy glimpse
  21. Boy does that open up a can of worms.
  22. The waiter is the devil. You're on a diet, trying to be good at a restaurant. You order and the waiter brings you:
  23. Holly, I don't know Nick from Adam (or from Nick Adams) but aren't you overreacting here just a little bit?
  24. Suzi, the blender picture was in another post but here it is again: I hope it was good for you
