  1. that would have been my guess too (fingers crossed)
  2. Back to Sri Luckshmi for another South Indian vegetarian meal. This time there was a dry potato curry, what i assume to be green beans in the middle and a tomato based curry on the side. The small pot to the far right was sweet and spiced - possibly brown rice or beans with something, very tasty whatever it was! With a coffee it came to $8 so a little bit more expensive than the hawker centres but being a restaurant you have the benefit of air conditioning! Also back to the ninenine eating house for kopi peng (iced coffee)

You could maybe do a Greek salad style version of your amazingly beautiful salad in soil.. Otherwise you could do Riffs on well known and classic dishes with more refined plating/recipes like a moussaka, gavos etc - please make sure to post pictures afterwards!!
  8. Local restaurant near my house again - set South Indian meal. The 3 veg accompaniments were very good - a lentil one, an okra one (which was great even though i dont usually like okra) and a gourd and coconut one. $6.80 well spent
  9. Lunch at a Korean BBQ near Bugis $15 for a 2 hour "slot" whilst the meat raw doesnt look appealing it was completely delicious We ordered spicy chicken, beef, pork and kimchi with assorted pickles sauteed vegetables and a rice dish with beef, chicken and mutton and an egg stirred through - again a real hit. The rice cakes on the other hand were just weird! Final plate Will definitely go back and have resolved to try more Korean food in future!
  10. The food stall next to my appartment - sorry, no idea of the name... anyone know what the brwon thing at the bottom of the photo might be? I still have no idea after attempting to eat it! Another $2.50

I've been Practising the yu sheng service for weeks due to work - chickened out and delegated to a native Chinese speaker when it came down to it though! Do you actually enjoy eating it or is it more symbolic?
  12. The ninenine eating house on upper weld street behind little India. Dont remember seeing it before so thought id check it out - nothing special really but at $2.50 not much to complain about either... Rice & 3 Veg as advertised, stirfried greens, okra and egg stirfried with cabbage and carrots. Nothing a bit of chilli sauce couldn't have helped but theres was very mild. ]]
  13. She went with my initial suggestion of the River Cottage - will post pics after the event, can't wait!!!
  14. Coca Majorcan (sort of a spanish flatbread pizza ) would be good, Croquetatas are always a hit, patatas bravas are tasty, cheap and easily done too. A nice heirloom tomato salad or baby gem with anchoives could be good as well, tortillas espagnol is a big winner where im concerned too. Olives, pan con tomate and some nice manchego with membrillo as well
  15. Komala Villas on Serangoon road for a dosai and Indian filter coffee
  16. Thought you may like to see some images from the chinatown markets that have been set up for Chinese New Year

  19. The housekeeper asked us what we wanted each morning before she left, electricity was a bit of an issue so didnt ask for anything too complicated but to be honest the breakfasts we ate were spot on and just what i wanted... You really should visit Lebanon, it is the most amazing country, and the food is outstanding wherever you go...
  20. My final beer at the airport... So thats about everything i think, hope you have enjoyed this little taste of my past week in Beirut, hopefully someone else will update this again in the coming months, i do hope to visit again before the year is up so will do my best to blog along....
  21. My boyfriend very sweetly cancelled his meetings so we could spend my last day together so we drove to Beit eddine (a truly spectacular sight and beautiful drive) Being winter, many restaurants en route were closed but we pulled into this great restaurant by a river - can imagine it would be stunning in the summer. There were a few other tables enjoying a late lunch like ourselves. I wanted fattoush and hummus with lamb, my boyfriend insisted on aspinaya (raw lambs liver) and we added in some extra hot mezzes and a mixed grill as well as some of their home made arak that slipped down rather well indeed. black & white pepper and salt for the liver
