    Walked a few blocks from the hotel to Little Brazil - restaurant named Ipanema. Caipirinha - standard and passion fruit version. Started with some Pão de Queijo. Calamari with a mango sauce. Picanha for me - hard to get rare with pieces this thin and bought on a sizzling plate. Skirt steak with chimichurri for another Kari. Octopus for @Alleguede

    We needed to meet up with a group heading out to Long Island for a bean to bar demo by Johnny Iuzzini - so grabbed a slice at Roses pizza inside the Penn Station macys featuring Jurassic Park theme

    First stop this am - the L’ecole Valrhona where we were warmly greeted by Chef Derek Porier and Chef Philippe Givre. checked out Jacque Torres

    Basically pulled off the leaves and scraped the bottom with your teeth like you would a steamed one - then the nice tender heart at the end. The choke was gone.

    Then down the street to Prune for dinner. Ignored all the politics. Really nice crispy garbanzos - creamy center, crispy exterior. Grilled artichoke. Tortellini in capon broth. Got the lovely bartender to make me a Little Italy. Pork "porterhouse" for me. Avgolemono Rice with Peas for Carol. Rabbit for @Alleguede Peas and pearl onions with mint and dill to share. For dessert we shared a strawberry panna cotta and lemon semifreddo.

    Saw these on the sidewalk. Panini presses. While waiting for dinner we dropped into this bar for a break. Negroni for me. Something girly for @Alleguede which sounded good but wasn't. Coke for Carol. Noticed Russ and Daughters across the intersection.
