  1. Initially sweet peaches but goes dry after a moment. Good mineral and apple – I had thought that this wine was supposed to be drier but maybe I have my wines mixed up. I thought this wine to be soft and balanced.
  2. A super complex champagne that had me searching for adjectives. Citrus, apricot, coffee cake, & warm jelly doughnuts. I gotta drink Champagne a little more often.
  3. Tight, tight, and tight – After an hour – it did present some classic raisan, cocoa, leather but a lot of tannin also. Not nearly as good as the 96/97’s I’ve had or the della Valpolicellas

    Decanters

As long as it aerates the wine properly and is pourable - you're fine. I've used simple round bottomed, glass pitchers as well as my Reidel or Spiegelau decanters with good results. Try a search via the word "decant" - there have been quite a few discussions here and here
  5. Why bother? Just buy the 90 Pol Roger in 10 years and drink it. Many people think of a cellar as a lavish expense but in reality, you'll save money by buying wines you wish to drink in 10-15 years, now. Why risk it ?
  6. I was hoping the Pope's table Mangia!
  7. I've just been informed their favorite restaurant is Buca di Beppo. I hope to get a good lunch in before dinner.
  8. It would be called "The Japanese Restaurant"
  9. I thought he/she looked like Robin Gibb! Actually, it was yet another Andy Dick cameo.
  10. The last line is very telling, eh? Click here for the review. Soba In the show - there was mention of a NY Times critic who had to leave due to the smoke. Was it Grimes ? What does he look like ?
  11. Is the name of the restaurant pronounced "RAH-cco" or "ROW-cco"
  12. He didn't open a restaurant. He stared on a "reality TV" show. The restaurant was a by product of the show. The dog wagged the tail. Understand what you're saying, but someone, in theory, poured 3 million or so into the place. What's the story on the money guy? What's his track record? Jeffery Chodorow has multiple places - Asia de Cuba, The resto at the Hudson, The resto at Clift in SF, China Grills, Mix (co owned with Alain Ducasse), Red Square in Miami, Vegas, (NY?)etc
  13. Coop, my friend - you may choose a prize from the top shelf
  14. I think that by the end of the 6 part series - creative editing will show how Rocco and the staff overcame, banded together, and made Rocco's the best italian restaurant possible. Predictions The GM (villian) is told off by Gideon. The kitchen becomes a disorganized mess Rocco gets behind the burners to reunite the kitchen staff Rocco sheds a tear during a heartfelt "thanks to everyone" moment The final televised meal in the place is nothing but "Oooohs and Aaaaahs" Now doesn't THAT sound like good tv to you ?
  15. I thought I saw Rocco shaking hands with Scott Bryan.
  16. "The illustrated guide to fraternity food hi-jinx"

    Finger Lakes Wine

Can you name some of your other favorite wines ? Stag's Leap or Pine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Chardonnay from Australia/NZ Marc Brédit's Chinon & other Loire Valley wines Well, you've named some wines I consider good myself. I'll consider your recommendation of Bully Hill "Love My Goat" as credible and give it a try sometime.
  18. The nose reminded me of potting soil, quince, and meyer lemons. Lots of mineral, parsley, golden delicious apple, nice & round without being too buttery. Fruit will develop a little more. I didn't even want wine on Fri night but when I saw it on the list for $ 32.95 - I gotta believe someone made a typo in my favor.
  19. I would hope that not everyone that attended "Friends & Family night" were like the jerks portrayed on TV. These people are getting a free meal and booze.
  20. That wasn't Nikki & Paris, they travel in a pack of 10-12 always.

    Finger Lakes Wine

CC - If you enjoy Dr. Frank - Hermann J. Weimer is right up your alley. His wines are comparable to Kabinetts and even Spatleses in some cases. I believe he's a Mosel native
  22. Fried Ice Cream, yes - Fried Cheesecake, No.

Personally, I think it would be a double edge sword - I, myself, would probably be less inclined to buy a NY product if I could buy superior Washington State, Alsatian, Napa, etc and have it shipped to my doorstep.
