  1. That's a typical reaction I get when I say that! Well, I love noodles of all sorts, really, but Italian pasta just isn't a favorite. There are some dishes I've had that I can tolerate or enjoy to a degree, but most of the time, it's just not something I care for. I guess it's just the taste. Spaghetti is one type I simply won't eat though. The reason is simple, and I'm sure there are some people who have experienced similar situations with other foods. Well, my mother was a bad cook. Absolutely terrible. Never seasoned things, over cooked things, did almost all of her "cooking" from packages. Well, spaghetti is one of those things she would throw together last minute with sauce from a jar. Unfortunately, she did this a little too often. So, from an early age, I was sick of spaghetti. Despite my traumatic childhood memories of my mother's "cooking" (or lack of cooking), I have tried spaghetti since then, prepared by people who knew what they were doing, but still don't care for it. On a positive note, my mother's cooking was so bad that I learned how to cook from a young age just to have decent food.
  2. Well, there are various things I don't particular care for. - Butter - Milk. The taste...it's just bad to me. - Tomatoes. Mainly if they're raw. - Spaghetti. Well, I'm not too fond of Italian pasta in general (although, some dishes are alright), but spaghetti is something I refuse to eat. As for cheesecake, I'm not too fond of it, but will eat it occasionally. Has anyone tried pumpkin cheesecake? That's truly vile!
  3. I don't tend to eat breakfast too often as I've never been too into it, but this morning, I ate leftover char siu bao. There were two left in the fridge, just calling to me. I couldn't resist!
  4. Hm...Well, I suppose I have my fair share of complaints as well. - When a place calls something "Asian" just because they added soy sauce and/or some ginger. - People putting ketchup on EVERYTHING. It's alright on SOME things, but it's not meant to be all purpose. - When people start adding extra seasoning or sauce to a dish before even tasting it. I think it's important to taste the food as is first and see what the cook had in mind when creating the dish. - When there's too much melted cheese on a dish. Covering something in cheese doesn't necessarily make it better. - Preground pepper and iodized salt.
  5. Thanks for the welcome. Those are some good dishes. When I was younger, I didn't pay much attention to nasu, but as I've become a bit older (not that I'm old), I've come to appreciate the texture and flavor more. I'm still a bit odd about eggplant outside of Japanese cuisine though. Hm....one of my favorite ways to cook it is sauteed with miso.
  6. Hello, everyone. This is my first post here (although I'm a long time reader)! I did a search for eggplant here and didn't see a thread on it, so I thought I'd start one. What are some favorite eggplant dishes that come to mind? Any particular preparation that you prefer?
