  1. I'm trying to picture this. Does the meat sizzle or does it just lay there and slowly turn gray? hmmmm. "Front desk, could we get some more shampoo and a spatula?" --Therese
  2. Yes, I enjoyed Steve's posts also. As a matter of fact, I liked em so much that I have it on good word Santa has a Freshroast coffee roaster packed away on his sled for me. Yeah! If you get a chance Steve, what beans are your favorites? I got a pound each of Java, Kawai (peaberry I assume?), and Columbian. I definitely wanted to stick with the less pricey beans, until I know what the heck I'm doing. -Therese
  3. I had never considered home roasting before your posts. I really didn’t know that they had roasters out there that would be affordable for home use. It really does sound like it’s worth the trouble if you love coffee, which I do. You may have covered this already, I apologize if you did, but where do you get your beans? --Therese
  4. Russell Stover's Pecan Turtles are not bad at tall. And, (though the name is not that appetizing) their Pecan Logs are Jim dandy. --Therese
  5. I've heard that also. Alton Brown on FTV is where I heard it I believe. Though for my part, I would not totally agree. Coffee seems to go stale pretty quickly at room temp. Freezing seems to really keep that freshness. Now, I wouldn't leave it in there for a month. I also would try to get it out of and back into the freezer pretty quickly - don't let it reach room temp and refreeze. That would be kinda yucky. It doesn't surprise me too much that beans left out after 2 weeks would show some signs of breakdown. Ground coffee definitely would. Therese
  6. If you throw some homemade cinnamon rolls in the oven I guarantee your neighbors will be beating your door down. The aroma of pastries and coffee... divine.
  7. [ Today I entered the deepest, darkest level of coffee geekdom.] Coffee CAN be about the best thing on the planet at 5:00 a.m. At that hour, I can't think of anything better. I'm sure your efforts will be worth it. I'm seething with jealousy over how good your abode is going to smell whilst the beans are roasting. therese
  8. Tony, Love ACT. Have you considered going to India? I've always thought it seemed to be one of the most diverse, beautiful, and maybe right now, a little scary, places on earth. After reading your books, sound's right up your alley to me --Therese
