I have never eaten a persimmon ...........not cake, pudding, jam, etc. Now I am in a new house and I can see that I'll have a huge crop when they ripen. How do I know when they are ripe? What then?

My neighbor gave me a huge bag of just softening figs (maybe 50?) and I need any and all suggestions ! I usually just have 4-6 from our own tree so I split them, top with a little goat cheese, honey and black pepper and grill. Or use in salads........

I love broiled pb sandwiches............ butter and brown sugar mooshed up and put under the broiler until brown (careful ! burns easily!) My favorite breakfast with my sister on Saturdays when watching cartoons (and the parents were sleeping) (It's OK, she is older!)

Has anyone had the La Lechera Dulce de Leche? It is an in-the-can carmelized version of condensed milk (you know how you cook it in the can for hours..........) Eaten with a spoon while looking guiltily around..................

Frequently Costco will do local wines. For example, if you are in Santa Barbara/Santa Maria look for Central Coast wines........great selection, good values !
