Today's bake and Moe's breakfast. Baked small size baguettes with a dough that had been given a 5 day cold fermentation. Sourdough with 100g of whole wheat added to 700g of bread flour. For breakfast, Moe had pasta with our favourite Italian Sausage and rosemary sauce. I also made him some garlic bread to have with his pasta.

Ramen noodles are not something that I buy. But after seeing so many positive reviews on the brand Momofuku I decided to try the brand A-Sha noodles which apparently are the same and are available locally. Momofuku noodles are not available in Canada but can be ordered off of Amazon. The difference is price for the same thing is substantial. So yesterday I decided to try the A-Sha noodles for lunch. I made my own sauce,(rice wine vinegar, fresh minced garlic, ginger and a little Thai sweet chili sauce) to add after the noodles were cooked. Because I was making these for lunch at work, I boiled water in a large container in the microwave added the noodles and when almost tender, finished them in off in a little chicken broth to which I added my sauce, some baby bok choy and strips of red pepper. Finished off with bean sprouts, green onion, and fresh cilantro. I grilled two steaks yesterday morning, and Moe had one for breakfast. I took the other one with me and sliced it thin to serve on top of the noodles. The heat from the soup, warmed up the beef but didn't over cook it so it stayed rare. I would definitely do this again, and next time with chicken breast.

Thanks MaryIsobel. Like you, I don't want to eat early. Not a big fan of breakfast. So on days that i work, I usually take the same thing for lunch and eat around 11:00. Father's Day breakfast. Made a ramen and a green chicken curry made with coconut milk. I'm taking the same for lunch.

I wasn't working today and it cooled off enough that I decided I was going to cook something special that I haven't made in a couple of years. Julia Child's Sauté de boeuf à la Bourguignonne, with some minor adjustments. Beef tenderloin filets in a wine sauce with mushrooms and pearl onions. Or in this case small Cipollini onions because I couldn't find pearls. Much easier to peel than the pearl onions.

I won't be making bread over the next few days, or roasting. But it won't stop me from making foods that some consider "winter" foods. I love a hot soup even on a really hot day.

We are finally having the hot weather that I love. It is in the high 80's. We had to turn on the air conditioning yesterday. I've never let the weather interfere with what I feel like eating. I've had a craving for chicken stew and dumplings and since I'm working today, I decided to make it this morning and Moe could have it for breakfast and I'll take it for lunch. Moe told me today, that if he had to eat only one meal for the rest of his life, it would be my chicken stew.

I had a dough still in the fridge that was now six days old so needed to get it baked. It is going to be hot here today so I wanted to get baking done early so rather than bake a few baguettes, I baked two focaccia. Both topped with cherry tomatoes, Kalamata olives and rosemary sprigs. Drizzled with garlic infused olive oil. I'm working today so dinner is going to be something simple like a antipasto platter served with the focaccia.

Your daughter's pastry box is really something. I think I would start with that peach croissant. Roasted a small rack of pork. Just two bones.

I kind of felt cheated too. But I knew that neither of us was going to be hungry enough for the Yorkshires.

Roast beef dinner tonight. Sterling Silver Medallion cut Top Sirloin roast. Skipped the Yorkshire puddings tonight and just kept it simple with mashed potatoes, au jus, and buttered peas. And extra hot horseradish

Moe's birthday dinner. I used Jacque Pepin's Steak Au Poivre recipe. I substituted beef tenderloin for the NY steak he uses in the recipe . Served with fresh local asparagus, Parisienne potatoes, mushrooms and sauted cherry tomatoes.

We had halibut fish and chips for a late lunch. I knew we wouldn't want dinner so I decided instead to bake Butter Tarts. Dessert for dinner.

@Honkman, that Fugazetta, looks amazing. Saturday night night dinner = A quick and easy "Tapa" night. Moe is still working on organizing my cookbooks. And my goal is to make a new recipe or at least try, to make a new recipe each week, pulled from one of my cookbooks. Both of these recipes came out of "tapas" by Susanna Tee. Matt made the Spanish Tortilla so I just added a couple of other tapas. Dinner was ready in less than 30 minutes after I got home from work. Garlic mushrooms and Chorizo and fried bread with garlic, parsley and paprika. I bought a smoker two years ago and have only used a few times. Decided since I wasn't working yesterday I would do two things, a whole double chicken breast and wings. The wings were finished first. Served with m Caesar salad that I have been making for 46 years. Moe loves this salad. Homemade dressing make with a coddled egg and homemade croutons.
