  1. I resisted this yesterday ...will all my might...I'm making it tonight...LOL this sounds so good!
  2. She passed the beef stew test. I had gorgeous beef necks browned along with onions. Pressure cook on high for 10 minutes, waited 10 minutes then release. Added veg carrots, celery, turnip and thin sliced potatoes Herbs and salt. 12 minutes on High 10 minutes then release. Added peas and lightly thickened with coconut flour. Happy, happy, happy:
  3. Anna I was so close to making these to go with the stew I've got on right now! No green onions so this is on my agenda! I'll update later on how my Beef Neck Stew turned out Those spuds sound fantastic!
  4. Morning FauxPas! Space Requirements work fine for me I found a tip online to put the Instant Pot on a Lazy Susan ( I have one that is just a big bigger in circumference then my pot) I keep it out on the counter as I've been using it on a regular basis. When I'm ready to release the steam I can turn the Lazy Susan away from the underside of my cabinets. I often use a towel too loosely over the release mechanism. Shes a bit large to lug in and out of a cupboard. But I'm short so I could be biased there The footprint is relatively small especially if you get the duo model with the slots on the side to sit the lid in. Its comparable to a large crock pot like Anna said. But she looks GOOD on the counter I keep it in that corner spot on my counter by my sink that is just my Bermuda triangle zone. I can pull it forward or push it back, works for me. Pickle was just a teaspoon or pickling spice (nothing super special) some Apple Cider Vinegar and Water and salt. Just to give some of the beets a bit of a bite in the salad.Others I left larger and plain. I'm having that salad for dinner again tonight. I was very happy with it Mmmchele
  5. I have made beets only once before. I'll be making them much more often now! Fresh squeezed orange juice , splash of olive oil and enough water to equal one cup and salt. Add beets to Instant pot: 20 minutes High Pressure. Remove and rub with paper towel to remove the skin *holy shiza was that easy and it didn't look like I'd committed a homicide* Then quick pickle a few of them and make a Beet, Goat Cheese and candied, cayenne walnut salad with mint: Don't bother to eat your Kahlua Pork, spuds and cabbage because this was just so damn good
  6. I LIKE what this is good for!!
  7. My Name is Mmmchele and I'm addicted to Instant Pot I got up this morning full of energy and decided to make Hot Sauce. Used the basic instructions from http://www.hippressurecooking.com/pressure-cooker-hot-sauce/ <----great , great resource and she posts here I used Thai Peppers and Seranno and one red pepper and One small yellow pepper: Covered with a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, white vinegar and a good splash of strawberry vinegar, OH and Applewood smoked salt about a tsp and a tsp of coarse sea salt. High Pressure for 1 minute. Then let sit for 15 and release. Puree and Strain into jars: Fast and easy. Came out tart, HOT, slight sweetness. I only did a small taste and did not detect much smokiness. But its a warm heat around the front of the mouth. I'll be doing more of this for sure!
  8. MMMM that looks so good! Those spuds looks very creamy!
  9. Going to pull this away from Yogurt making for just a momento to say....Risotto came out delicious! I made duck breasts with it so I rendered the duck fat and used that to Saute the onion garlic and rice in the Instant Pot...I also added butter and a bit of bacon fat for good measure. Creamy...smooth, flavourful and EASY! [attach]ment=52847:11894438_10153026945127703_3882562789162369563_o.jpg]
  10. I love how tonites IP Adventure is using up all the 'left overs' I created IN the Instant Pot. I really dig that...I like to make many meals from the foods I use! Chicken Noodle Soup Saute in butter and olive oil: chopped onion celery and carrot *garlic for me too* The chicken stock I made a few days ago in the IP! It is so gelatinous and I defatted it. Diced the chicken breasts from the whole Chicken I cooked in the IP. Add to the pot with bay leaves, pinch of cayenne, salt and pepper, garlic powder and a pinch of poultry seasoning. Manual Pressure for 5 minutes and let it be then release pressure after five minutes...I'm cooking the Noodles separately since this soup will be frozen in individual portions for lunches!
  11. Hey Rotus The breast meat came out very similar to roasting a bird whole. It wasn't too dry, but of course not as moist as the yummy dark meat! I used the two breasts in my IP Chicken Noodle Soup I made tonite and will post it in a bit
  12. Morning Anna! I think she was about a 4 or 5 lb chicken...she JUST fit in the pot laying down. I have the smaller Duo. I would move your pot ASAP...I absolutely love the pot holder, I don't need a spot on the counter for it while I'm prepping. Can't wait to see how the mushroom pate comes out! Is it the vegetarian 'fois gras' recipes? Michele
  13. Instant Pot success again! Whole chicken, browned well on both sides with the saute function. Used Paprika to ensure I didn't end up with an anemic boiled looking canned chicken! 25 minutes on Chicken Mode. Meat was falling apart. Rested the chicken and had dreams of Instant Pot being able to make my beloved roasted cauliflower!. Sauteed Cauli...then Manual High Pressure for one minute. It came out good and flavourful but no where near the goodness that is roasted cauliflower with crispy bits. After dinner I picked all the meat off the bones, which came out as a nice roasted, juicy chicken. I put the bones and fat into the Instant Pot added my stock ingredients and shes cooking away now. I like that I can't make a huge mess with this cooking tool...all the food I'm preparing is done in one pot! I'm really enjoying the experimenting.
  14. Hi Rotus! The shortribs were 35 minutes under pressure, 10 minute wait then a release. I use a tea over my hand as that steam is HOT! Soup was also 35 minutes under pressure. Meat mode to be exact, wait 10 minutes and it was good to go. I started with raw short ribs and added everything else and was very pleased with the end result.
  15. Your cheesecake looks great! I can't wait to hear how that turns out! I made a very good soup with beans and shortribs, beans precooked super easy. I am very happy with the results:
  16. FauxPas I like to do a slow braise to get that richness and I got that in the Instant pot in a total of 45 minutes. I found you have to use less liquid to get a braise, if you add too much liquid the meat stews and loses a bit of the flavour. If you have never used the three appliances this would be a great tool for you. I still have in my kitchen my crock pot and my rice steamer. This is my first time doing pressure cooking and right now I can't get enough of it. Its fast . clean up is super easy, the stainless steel pot is sexy The saute feature is excellent. I was surprised how hot it got! I haven't used it as a crock pot yet but I imagine it will be very good for that. I've made beans, came out very good and no explosions! I made a pot of soup in 35 minutes that came out rich and flavourful. I even made a meatloaf, the texture was very 'diner' style. Aesthetically she wasn't very pleasing until I popped her under the broiler for a few minutes: While the meat loaf was broiling and crisping the bacon on top I made gravy and I roasted some baby potatoes that took 15 or 20 minutes: Anna I'm going to be playing with beans a lot more. I plan on chick peas soon for hummus. My Halal Grocery store has beans and pulses I don' even recognize...I see many experiments Edited to explain the IP Potatoes a bit better: Saute Mode with duck fat and garlic, brown the potatoes for ten minutes then pierce the spud so the skins stay intact. Add 1/3 ish cup of stock, fresh rosemary and salt. Switch to pressure mode for ten minutes and creamy roasted spuds
  17. I love this Instant Pot! First experiment short ribs...fall off the bone, tender delicious meat: Chopped garlic in the awesome pot...then I added: Soy sauce Sesame oil honey sriaccha sweet wine lemon juice rub the short ribs around then PRESSURE COOK it on the meat/stew button. Wait ten minutes then release the steam.
  18. Put my order in. This has been on my radar for about a year. I'll post after amazon gets it to me. I have always had a good healthy fear of pressure cookers, not rational, apple sauce horror story my Mom liked to tell of a friend of a friend of a friend, that it happened to Poor thing's face was scarred for life...or so the story goes
  19. Shelby! This was awesome...I feel like you take me to a Modern Day Little House on the Prairie! Thanks so much for the adventure
