  1. Forget my suggestion about Red Chimeny!!!!! They now use pre-made gyro strips. Stay away!!! Greek Delgihts in Montclair has the best around. Go there if anywhere!
  2. Thanks, can you tell me where it is in relation to the casino's? ← Dock's is right on Atlantic Avenue. Here's the link with menu and prices. It really is a fantastic place and well worth the money. Dock's Oyster House
  3. Dock's Oyster House is the best place outside of the casinos. While you say "affordable" I don't know what that means to you. Dock's entrees are in the neighborhood of mid $20's but well worth the dough. Excellent oyster selection and service is right up there. I always go there even if I am in the vicinity of AC.
  4. Forget Fascino on a Saturday night with a crowd that big. You need to book a month in advance. Orbis is great. Palazzo. Epernay is good too.
  5. Nice! I'll have to stop by soon and give you some feedback on those great sounding desserts. Good Luck!
  6. I would have to second that. I always order tha angus burger. Always great. Likewise the ribs are excellent as well but for those I much prefer Indigo Smoke.
  7. No way Gormley allows this to effect Atlantic City. It stood a real shot before they included the casinos back in the bill. Committee votes mean very little in NJ especially when they are held just for the press. This one is a long way from over imho.
  8. I hope they ban alcohol in bars and restaurants too. It kills way more people than smoke does. That includes self and others around you(drunk driving)
  9. Terazza in Nutley has 3 or 4 tables out front when the weather permits
  10. I'm staying in. Starting with a hunk of Grana Padano and some La Sala Chianti Classico Homemade Lasagna, broccoli rabe sauteed with olive oil and bread crumbs, then spicy calamari. Nice espresso and sambuca to finish. I never was one for Irish fare.
  11. Thanks for the list Rosie!
  12. In all fairness I think Zafra has went seriously downhill. Service, and food. There is no competition with La Isla in Hoboken. The food is head and shoulders above Zafra and the servie is way better. I also have to give a serious thumbs up to Azucar. I think their food is as good if not better than La Isla but more expensive. Azucars appetizers are better than La Isla. I would pass on Zafra unless you can't get into La Isla.

    FASCINO

Hopefully he won't demonstrate his arugula washing techniques.
  14. Think center-cut perfectly cooked bacon at Raymond's for breakfast can't be beat. bacon is the reason I could never even think of being a vegetarian.
  15. Went last night and had: Full rack of Baby Backs Fried Chicken entree Sides of Mac&Cheese and Cole Slaw and cornbread. I go at least once a month here and I really think they are actually getting better! The Mac&Cheese was much creamier and cheesy than usual. The fried Chicken was definitely better than before(although it was always awesome). Ribs were status quo and incredible as usual. Cole slaw was red cabbage and very crispy and not drowned. We added two coca-colas. Phenomenal meal for only $46 bucks including tip for two people. Stuffed to the brim.
  16. Greek Delights is as good as ever. I use to go to Red Chimney for Gyros until they started using frozen pieces of Gyro meat last year. I need to see that stuff sliced off the big log! Anyway, today for lunch I had a Gyro platter and some hummus. I sat in the place and had a nice fountain drink with it. The meat is awesome. Nice juicy think pieces on top of a fresh pita with grilled sweet pepper and grilled tomato topped with white onions. A generous side of tzatziki sauce too. Nice and chunky with medium garlic and cucumber. I give them two thumbs up. Seems like they have a very brisk take out service too. If you like authentic Greek you'd be at a loss not to make it here.
  17. I know that Seabra's supermarket in Ironbound has whole skinned and cleaned rabbits. You could definitely order from there and they should be very reasonably priced.

    FASCINO

I had a great meal there on Valentine's Day. Lobster and avacado salad(+ $5 supplement) Cannaloni with cheese and mushrooms over arugula Chicken breast over broccolini with black truffle sauce Scallop dish grilled but I forgot the accompaniments Chocolate Souffle Warm banana crostata I may have missed some details but the meal was very good. One exception was the Cannaloni dish. It tasted fantastic but the arugula was very sandy. I told the waiter and he kind of shrugged it off. Besides that service was very good. I was suprised to see so many choices on the menu for the holiday. Geat items too as it was very difficult to decide what to get. Menu was price fixed at $55 a head for the three courses.
  19. Yes it is....if this board didn't have an edit function I'd have a typo every line. LOL!
  20. The problem with Parmigiano Reggiano is that it is expensive no matter what. Find your nearest Italian specialty store or deli and see what they have it for. A whole wheel is about 80 lbs. Try and ask for greater aged cheeses like 3 years, it's called stravecchio and is more expensive but much better tasting. Likely you are buying cheese aged less than 1 year. It also depends on the time of year its produced. I think spring time production is the best of the bunch. Have you ever tried Grano Padano cheese? I might suggest that too if you are head over heels for these types of cheeses. It's more popular than PR in Italy. This summer I'm doing Italy for two weeks and can't wait to hit Emilia-Romagna for the real deal right from where it's made!
  21. Do a search on AC in this forum. Plenty of info. Docks Oyster House is well worth the 5 minute cab ride for dinner. Forget the rest, Dock's is the best.

    TAOS

I like this place too. We sat at the bar about a week after they opened. My big knock was that the martinis were filled half way up the glass. The glasses were not huge either. Oh well. I had the tuna trio for appetizer. It was excellent grade tuna. Each was seasoned perfectly. My entree was a Chicken with sesame type sauce and steamed veggies. Portion was good sized but the dish was overall a little bland for my tastes. Everyone was happy with their meals. The real deal here is a crab claw appetizer. I think it was $11 but you got a very generous portion of Dungeness crab claws for the money!
  23. I quoted them on The Best of 2004 thread as one of my favs! If they still have the truffle creme brulee save room. I have never had a bad meal there. Last time I had the lamb stew with truffles and it was fantastic! If you are a truffle maniac you will love this place! So what's on tap for V day at your place. Ill be there at 9. Give me a hint.
  24. Definitely correct. I think its because it has a very limited amount of parking. If it's crowded forget about it. The last person to run the place is the same guy that owns/runs the Franklin Steak House. He leased the spot(Bice) and kept it for one year. He wouldn't resign the lease because business was so bad and he didn't see it increasing much no matter what he planned to do. He obviously knows how to run a successful place and he did say the location of "Bice" was what was the problem.
