ahha! I'll give it a go, new tastes (especially protienlicious ones) are always welcome chocolate is my favorite in the build up drinks I have just now, or vanilla... it also helps to add in a teaspoon of vanilla extract or almond extract to the drinks before mixing, just boosts the flavour a little.

yup, I got some boxes of protien shakes home from the hospital, sort of milky drinks, not my favorite things but I do try and drink one a day.. have thought about churning one in my ice cream maker just in case it tastes better frozen. peanut butter (and other nut butters) thrown in with a shake is my favorite way to get protien in, I tried liquidising ordinary food (suggestion by online support) but it's awfull, I'd rather find an alternative than drink chicken through a straw so.. tonights dinner #1 weetabix #2 garlic roasted Poussin with roast potatoes and veg

I'm on the lookout for a kombucha mother, and was rather surprised that a search for "kombucha" on eGullet, a couple of days ago, produced exactly ONE hit. Now there'll be three, heh heh. Can you make it four and give me suggestions? I've got quite a few mothers lying in our fridge, I can certainly try mailing you one, if sourdough starters can make it through customs I expect vinegar mothers can... pm with your addy and I'll find some ziploc bags...

thank you! reason for my no solids is I had a vertically banded gastroplasty last year, so I have a tiny pouch instead of a normal stomach, eat anything to chunky (or just too much of something smooth) and the consequences are painfull (usually ending in me being sick ) so food since then has been something of an adventure into the unknown... apart from the no solids I eat very tiny portions (half a cup or slightly more) and try to keep it low cal/low fat, no restrictions on spice, acids and fibre, lol, I haven't yet tried my old drink (tequila with salt and lemon) yet in case it rusts my staples I love spicy food, or used to, curries were my favorite, now I'm starting to experiment with curried soups, I've got a recipe for a sweet potato, coconut and spice soup... I'd say my biggest complaint is my lack of protien (though I'm hoping that experiments with silken tofu may help this) and the boredom that comes with only eating one texture. it's got it's positive side, before the op I'm sure I didn't realise what rich world of texture, spice and taste was out there, now I'm forced to look harder at these things to get a nutritious and interesting meal.

mm.. bread was good, tastes of woodsmoke and is oddly good with honey. tonight's dinner sausage and mushroom quiche chips beans (yes, baked beans... I like them pureed) more soup for me. oh.. when I post two dinners, it's because there's one that everyone else in the house eats and one I do, I can't eat solid food so mine is frequently soup, mashed potatos/veg with gravy or weetabix. but posting that gets monotonous and doesn't really reflect the dinner that most people here are having I decided to post both.

sounds odd, but tastes good, I use kombucha vinegar, mum brews her own kombucha tea, if you use it quickly it's sweet and fruity but if you let the mother steep in it longer you get a vinegar, also fruity but really sharp too...

it's cold and wet, so tonight's dinner is split pea soup (with a parmesan heel chucked in for flavour) this will most likely be for tommorow's lunch too but served then with some barley/sunflower bread. comfort food at it's best

What is a rommertopf? And why did you find it in your car boot??? hehe, rommertopf heaven! I might find one in our car boot, goodness knows it needs a clean, lol, I found it (and a very nice spice grinder) at a car boot sale, kind of a big garage sale, last week and have been itching for a chance to play with it! it makes the chicken incredibly tender and, chickeny, also you get lots of lovely stock, wierdly without adding any liquid to it

*must buy tangine, now!* suddenly my improvised casserole and foil tent arrangement looks so skanky. anyhow, dinner last night chicken cooked in my latest car boot find, a rommertopf, mmm.. really good chicken. garlic bread & salad edited for spelling

quiche lorraine, ok, it takes three hours to make as apposed to three minutes to buy, but it's just so good! cassoulet ~ fancy trying to make this, but everytime I read through a recipe I get scared of the seemingly neverending list of steps and decide to leave it for another day.

oh my, the rolls look wonderfull, any chance of you posting the recipe? it just so happens that I have some cardammon pods in the kitchen.... I love your lunchtime view, fantastic, lol, working at home has it's drawbacks, your lunchtime view is the same as your getting up in the morning and dinner time view.

I like to cook them with some white wine, garlic and lemons, slowly and foil covered till tender, then remove the foil to brown them... or without the wine etc and lay them on a lot of thinly sliced onions instead.
