IrishCream, Great report. Thank you for sharing with all. I live in upstate N.Y. and Fall is already getting a grip on the weather, so your report is a welcome escape.

I also was calling today and it took four hour's to get through. Got a res. for the end of November.

I uploaded some photo's to imageGullet today of my May 27th dinner. As I'm still learning about the new feature's sense the upgrade, I'm not sure how to give a link or if it's even possible.

Seem's like ages ago when my wife and I as a young couple went to Lutece with expectations of having the meal of a life time. We dined out often but this was our first time to one of the grand temples of french cuisine and we could have not been more excited. While Andre Soltner could not have been more charming when he visited our table and the food was memorable. But what stand's out in our memory is the maitre d' approaching our table and giving us a quick eye to toe observation in which his smile left his face as if we had the ebola virus. As he walked away I asked my wife if my fly happened to be down. We were never offered a wine list and the whole evening we felt like we were out of place and could not understand why as we were polite and dressed appropriately. I'm telling you this story because as we were new to high end dining we felt intimidated and did not return to another high end french restaurant for years. It's unlikely anywhere in New York you and your friend will encounter the nose in air service that we did has it is a bygone era. But many people new to fine dining have a preconceived notion of our demon maitre d' at Lutece. So my opinion is spend a bit more and take your friend to Per Se, the servers make you feel like family and the food is to die for, but most of all your friend will never forget his introduction to great restaurant's. Robert

I recall one mentioning that their Per Se server actually "downsold" them — suggesting they not order bottled water, when they made it clear they were trying to economize.

We were there the next night (Monday) for the first time since they closed for renovations - we were there the last night they were open also. The restaurant is better than ever, the wine list is much improved and the food is absolutely top-notch. All of our meals at tfl have ranged in price from $300-$500 per person. It certainly isn't cheap, but it's worth every cent. melkor, You know the best way you can make amends for not giving us your New Years Eve report is to give us a report on your last dinner.

Artichoke "Quote" The duck meat was tough, it took 8 strokes of my knife to cut through it. It seem's Mr Bruni has the same opinion on the duck in this weeks review.

Darn good thing they have a salad bar. Last time there the waitress came to our table and said, I got good news and bad news. Good news being I'm here to take your order, Bad news I have no pen so can I borrow yours.

Another common complaint that baffle's me. From the very first press release Thomas Keller made it well know that this restaurant would not be focused toward the business crowd. How now are these 4 hour dinners a shock to anyone as it was common knowledge way before the name of the restaurant was even released. If diners are still surprised at this point by the long meals they must have been in Attica for the last three years.

I can't help but be bewildered every time I hear criticism of the Time Warner building. Walking threw the mall to Per Se did not faze me nearly as much as trying to find a place to park.(78th street) Visiting Whole Foods in the basement makes me feel like a child in Disney World. Just looking at the fish display I can't help but wonder if the fish in my local supermarket, in upstate New York is even safe to eat. Believe it or not, I have to make a 3 hour round trip to Adams in Kingston to find some quality fish. As all the fish in my area is a lovely shade of brown. And as for the restaurants, I can count the good ones on one hand within an 100 mile radius. Fine Dining is considered prime rib and baked potato. My wife and I have gotten to the point where we believe we are wasting money on mediocre restaurants in the area. Dare I say I can't help but think that New Yorker's are a bit spoiled. At least you have Per Se in your mall. As I only have Ruby Tuesday's in mine.

cupcake250, So what was the low down on the Sun review? Good or Bad.

rnewman, Thank's so much for your report. I was wondering there for awhile if anyone tried it or if it was just one of those hyped up in the press place's. I noticed the pork tenderloin on the menu and I likely would have tried it also as it really sound's delicious but it is a risky menu item I alway's felt because it is so unforgiven and will dry out in a moment if you turn your back. Not a easy item for a busy kitchen. Thanks again. Robert.

Has anybody been to Salts in Cambridge, since Gabriel Bremer and Analia Verolo took it over? The reviews could not have been more positive for such a new restaurant. Four Stars Boston Herald. http://theedge.bostonherald.com/diningRevi...bg?articleid=46

My God. Even if you had not planned a seasonal menu how could one ever guess which dish will become a signature. So many time's a chef think's one dish will stand out only to flop while another is a hit that was never expected. Obvious this lady had no clue and when you first noticed that, it would have likely been a good idea to tell her anything she wanted to hear. I really wish you all the luck in the world Bond Girl !! I have faith that you will prevail when all is done.

I also enjoyed his show's and have many of his book's. But based on that I have no idea if he was a good man or bad. He was very good at his job and portraying to his audience what he wished them to see but as many time's as I watched his show I could not see in his soul or even his living room for that matter. I admire the man for his work but beyond that if he did do what he was accused of doing he was a very lucky man only to lose his job.

Quote: Any wrong doing on his part is passed, I would not say for sure that the family's he affected would agree with you!!

I'm not so sure as the review is not up yet and this is the first time sense Mr. Bruni took over that the review is not included with the rest of the food page.
