  1. I will try, however, as Malarkey is a sad witness to, me and digital cameras don't get along to well. I can take the pix, however, getting them off of the camera is the thing I'm not too good at...(Hopefully I will have better luck at this time I am at Salumi.)
  2. At long last, Sofrito Rico in Ballard has opened! Yay! (Even though they stole my shift leader from me Grrrrr ) Haven't been there yet, but (as stated earlier) one of their cooks and one of the owners used to work for me here at the pizzeria. Great People, and they won best foodstand at last summers Ballard Seafood Fest!!! Check em out and lemme know, I will be trying to get there soon... www.sofritorico.com Maybe time for yet another egullet gathering??? See ya, Jason edited to add URL
  3. This is SO frickin' cool... I was at work Thursday night when one of the owners call... "Hey, Jason...Whatcha' doing Monday morning?" "Uh, dunno, why?" "Well, we're doing that pie with the salami from Armandino's place and we were wondering if you wanted to come help make the salami for it?(!!!) "When did you say you wanted me there?" I"M FREAKIN MAKING SALAMI WITH ARMANDINO!!! Ok, I'll lay off the smileys...I'm supposed to dress warmly. This is for our upcoming Salumi Primo, available from Pagliacci starting sometime around the beginning of February. God, I can't wait...
  4. Ditto --- I would love to know what to order when I finally am able to go! Sounds like it was fun!
  5. Appears that The Wingdome on the Ave is done. Brown paper up on the windows when I walked by this morning...
  6. If I'm not working when you meat....(Get it? ) I am SO in....
  7. kieran --- Congrats!!! Really Nice! --- Best of Luck, you'll do great! Our Resolution BITES... I have my first Weight Watchers Meeting tonight...I lasted all of 2 days the last time I tried it.... I raise my glass......of water to all of you. Happy New Year!!!
  8. Ahh...Anita. Tyhe next time we meet I will get on my knees and bow before you. Thanks for the needed slap upside the head and the reminder of the Palace Burger. We wnet there last night after seeing the horribly disapointing "House of Flying Daggers", which was a good place to take a nap, except for when I was cringing at the end fight scene. Anyway, I digress... Man, Place Kitchen was DARK! We had to move the candle that was on the table over to read the menu. We both had the burger, Amber was going to get it medium but I talked her out of it. (She was glad I did) She had hers with Bacon and Blue Cheese, and while I am normally a bacon cheeseburger kind og guy, I just had to have the beef with no competition last night. Just had lettuce, 2 of the pickled tomatos, (had put all of them on, but then I remembered,) mayo and ketchup. Wow, was it goooooood. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly done, good bun that was not too thick but didn't get all sogged out from the wonderfully juicy burger....My only "beef" (har har har) with it was that it wasn't big enough! Loved the fries, even though they were of the type to cool down real real fast. (Still good, though) Absolutely hit the spot. THANK YOU Jason
  9. OHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! (Duh...Not enough Coffee yet... Thanks!)
  10. Love Dicks and Daly's too, but damnit, I was watching Sex in the City this morning, and it looked like Carrie and Berger were at Balthazar eating what looked like the perfect burger, thick, slightly rare, on good bread....GOD am I craving a good upper end burger. Any Suggestions? Hell, I'm tempted by the Kobe beef one at Oceanaire, but $20 for a burger seems excessive to me.... (Edited for dum speling miztake )
  11. Okay, I think that I am confused. It has always been my understanding that Hopping John at its most basic is black eyed peas and rice,(good luck) with collards being an option to bring financial luck. saw the postings re: New Year's foods, and saw ham mentioned in all of them, and rice being kind of an afterthought. Have I been making it wrong? Thanks!
  12. Real Quickly (so that my wife doesn't yell,) Alan Richman's "Fork it Over" (YES!!!) ac ouple of very old cookbooks, the aforementioned mandoline, and a book on food writing. Very Cool!
  13. I know that it is early, but I know that I got...I mean, my wife got an OXO Mandoline from her parents. More after X-mas! What about you?
  14. Yikes Yikes Yikes....CANNED mushrooms? I agree with Scorched Palate....I highly doubt that they are superior to fresh 'shrooms Although, I could very well see canned mushrooms being used at The Turf! edited for spelling
  15. BTW...I'll have the Black Coat, Blue "Eagles" T-shirt and the Spicolli style Black and White checked Vans on.... The 80's were so cool......
  16. I'm looking Waaaaaaaaaaay too forward to this
  17. I gotta say, I'm lovin this thread, I am actually starting to get rather excited to have this drink!
  18. As I suspected, my friend was apparently pulling my leg, or, doesn't know. I'd never heard of the Bailey's and lemon variant...yuck. Thanks for the help. Some of us eG'rs in Seattle are heading to a truly scary dive on Monday for lunch, I'll order a Bourbon and Milk, (which I will henceforth call a White Redneck) and report back...
  19. Started out as a joke on the PNW section, but a friend says that this is a real drink....real gross that is. Apparently, when the milk hits the bourbon, it curdles, and turns into a rather chunky drink. Is this true, or is he pulling my leg? Thanks.
  20. BTW...I ahve it on semi good authority that when bourbon hits milk, the milk curdles....instantly. Apparently this drink is called a Cement Mixer...due to the rather lumpy consistency that occurs... Anyone gonna order it?
  21. Ahhh...The Dog House...The only place where I have ever passed out face first into a burger...I still miss it. White Redneck, indeed... ! HA! Mondays are good for me...I think it would be safer during the day, myself... Jason
  22. Whats that...a Moo-r-bon? or maybe a bourmilk?
