  1. As I noted on another thread, we had lunch there last Thursday (9th), and the prix fixe was $50Euros, which included two glasses of wine. all the same, it was a great lunch!
  2. Thanks, I'll try the epazote again, grow under lights inside in the winter.
  3. I have to suggest the cookies called Basler Leckerle. You have to shop carefully for them, but they are wonderful. I have loved them since I first tasted them in 35 years ago. I know they sell them packaged to travel.
  4. My son and his new wife are going to be in Paris for 5 days, on a limited budget, and, as a gift, I am treating them to a lovely dinner - I want to spend about 100-150 Euros. They are staying in the 14th, with friends, but are quite mobile. Any suggestions?
  5. Just a quick note - we had lunch at Violon d'Ingres last Thursday (9th Sept). We e-mailed a few days in advance for the reservation, and got a prompt reply from Catherine Constant. The lunch was 50 Euros, including two glasses of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The whole experience was lovely, the food excellent, the service polished and professional. Thanks to all of you who recommended this restaurant. We saw the other two Constant restaurants nearby, and they looked interesting, in a different way.
  6. We had dinner at Gugel Hof in the Kathe kOLLWITZ Platz last night, and thought the food was very good. Servers were helpful. Ambience is quite casual, which is nice.
  7. I too live in Canada, although in Ottawa where it is considerably colder than Victoria in the winter and considerably hotter in the summer. Anyway, where did you get the hoja santa seeds? I bought epazote seeds this year, but they didn't do well at all. Any ideas?
  8. I am leaving for Paris on Friday, and friends have recommended the above two restaurants. Any views? Also, how far in advance should one reserve? I am also interested in Violon d'Ingres, being discussed in another post, and am wondering about how far in advance to reserve?
  9. Well, the two nights Comme Chez Soi is closed are Sunday and Monday, and as luck would have it, I will be in Brussels Sept. 5 and 6 (Sunday and Monday). Any other suggestions for an equivalent? Is there an equivalent?
