  1. I think the explaination for this is in your original 'return to BK and check out the customization process' post:
  2. Hmm, I can probably make that date. Lunch time? Kim, I can give you a mall tour afterwards if you haven't been to TMASH previously.
  3. Can't it also be made with an "i" ? iYes!
  4. The hangover headache is caused by dehydration. Drink a big glass of water with 2 aspirins before going to bed to avoid it.
  5. Another option you might consider is doing some bulk cooking as a group. Prepare some soups, stews, pasta sauces, chili and casseroles that can be frozen and used as time and money saving dinners throughout the month. There are several websites devoted to OAMC (Once a Month Cooking) already, here are some links: Frozen Assets @ AOL Hometown Frozen Assets' Yahoo Group Friendly Freezer's Yahoo Group -- not as preachy as Frozen Assets Or, just do a google search for Once a Month Cooking -- there's a lot more out there than I list here. And here are a couple books: Once-A-Month Cooking by Mimi Wilson & Mary Beth Lagerborg, is the bible of OAMC, but it has very basic recipes that are kind of pedestrian. (Amazon link) Frozen Assets: How to Cook for a Day and Eat for a Month by Deborah Taylor-Hough. Also, not very exciting recipes, but both books have lots of organization ideas.

    Dinner! 2003

They were New York Strip Steaks from Stew Leonards, about 6 inches long by 1.5 inches high, by 2.5 inches wide, 1-1.5 lbs each). I seasoned with salt, pepper and olive oil. Then seared them on a very hot cast iron griddle for 1 minute per side (on the 4 long sides). Then into a 400 F oven, with a probe thermometer (set for 130) stuck in the largest piece. Removed from oven when the timer went off and allowed to rest for 10 minutes before slicing (do not remove the probe thermometer until the steaks are rested). Three of us ate the two smaller steaks the first night. The larger steak was used for an asian beef salad the following night (recipe adapted from Hot Sour Salty Sweet by Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid).
  7. I'd love to hear from some of the extended Varmint clan. Do they even know that they are the "extended Varmint clan"? Did they wonder who all those strangers were? Did we recruit any new eG members?

    Dinner! 2003

I'm getting much better at having the steak come out uniformly pink throughout.
  9. tommy's my hero. FYI - SF & I have made nice privately.
  10. Thanks for the additional pictures, Rochelle. I figured you and edemuth drove together. I'm so glad everyone had a great time. I hope this becomes an annual or semi-annual event so we get to attend one.
  11. Oh phooey on you. What I'm saying is the design was done publically, there's still a thread about it. It's just a little late to get in a critique, that's all.
  12. The time to speak up about French grammer was about two months ago when the design was being created!
  13. How long have you been waiting to use that line? WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM! Someone get Vengroff to lead the tech support team... Scott is taking a well deserved nap right now, but the network is set up and Tarka is here with the webcam so you will get some live action later on. Well?
  14. How long have you been waiting to use that line? WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM! WEBCAM!
  15. So, how did it come out 'trix?
  16. Just to put in a good word for JUdson Grill. I sent my parents there for pre-theatre not to long ago and they were quite pleased.
  17. When's the webcam going to be set up? More pics, more updates please. Be sure to post a "would you come?" notice on your local forum. Who knows who may come to Australia just for your pickin'?
  18. I'm so sad we aren't going that I made Jason help me and jhlurie reorganize the "junk room" into a den. It's actually a livable space now and the shelves go up on the wall today. I can finally unpack all my cookbooks. I should have taken before pictures to go with the after (just imagine a room filled with enough boxes & junk to fill 2 50 gallon garbage cans and the Cadillac's trunk with clothes & miscellaneous crap to give to Goodwill). Oh yeah, no holding back on the bunny pics. If people can handle a decapitated pig in a bloody bath, they can handle raw & cooked rabbit!
  19. New Main Taste
  20. I'll second Shanghai Jazz. Not the most innovative or authentic asian food, but great atmosphere and entertainment.
  21. I guess we'll be there, since we're not going to NC.
  22. Also, shouldn't have been stored in a plastic bag. They would have been better "stored" as bookends on your shelf.

    POMEGRANATES

My main picking criterion for pmegranates is to pick one that is heavy for its size. Can't tell if it's sweet, but at least it won't be dried out.
  24. I was just about to cancel our hotel reservation. We got the 67.00 per night rate a while ago (king, non-smoking, down & out room (because we were bringing our dogs). I think that rate might be sold out, if someone wants it, let me know before 6 PM today and I'll see if I can just switch the name on the res.
