    Fascino

    Sounds good to me! Anthony

    Fascino

In case anyone is counting, anytime is good for us.... Ant

    Fascino

Rosie, we do the same thing...Love those polenta fries... Anyway, count Amy and I in.... Anthony
  4. Lou, any chance you can relocate from Morris County to Wayne?? The guys at Fascino keep telling me to check out your place, but it is quite a haul from here... We'll get there eventually I guess.... Anthony
  5. An Italian place in Northern NJ. That might be tough. Try this... Close your eyes. Swing a dead cat over your head and toss. Chances are it will land in front of an Italian restaurant. To all potential restauraneurs out there...Please don't open another Italian Restaurant!!!!! We don't need another crummy, run of the mill, uncreative, got-no-talent-but-my-friends-like-my-meatballs ristorante. Someone pleeeeeeease open a good restaurant in northern NJ (the folks of Fascino are exempt from this razzing). Anthony PS, I meant no disrespect....To cat lovers
  6. Excellent point. I just thought of a place though. Its in Franklin Lakes next to the Market Basket. I think it is called Endless Vine or something like that. I didnt think of it at first because they are really a wine store, but there is a bar in the back. I've never sat down for a drink though. Perhaps next time I am there I will check it out. In any case, its still not what I would think of as a "Wine Bar".
  7. Simple question, are there any decent wine bars in NJ, specifically northern NJ?
  8. I havent been there for a few years, but One if By Land, Two if By Sea is quite romantic...

    FASCINO

Fascino was mentioned again by the NY Times Sunday paper, in their NJ section. It was one of three restaurants listed as "excellent". This time it was right on the front page, so even casual newspaper flippers would see it. Anthony, you are going to have a ton of messages this time... I'd like the next available reservation please, I guess some time in April Anthony
  10. I was a big fan of Zod. We knew immediately when he left, just by eating there...I wish he would come back to the northern NJ scene...
  11. I see in Rosie's Openings/Closings there is a restaurant called Orzo, which is in the same place as an old favorite, Ten Square. Has anybody been there yet?? Report!!
  12. I have eaten there many times and have enjoyed it a lot. It is usually packed, so make a reservation. Also, it is BYOB. I almost always get Weiner Schnitzel for myself and then share with everyone else. I have never had a bad meal.It is head and shoulders above Triangle Hofbrau. Jeurgen's son opened one in Madison. It is my opinion that the Montclair site is better. Apple Strudel is very good, though one time it was inedible. I would certainly try it if I were you... Anthony

    Blend

Anything new to report about this restaurant? I looked at their website and there doesn't seem to be anything new there... Anthony
  14. If you have time to wait for shipping, I use this site for a lot of my knives. They have good prices and a huge selection... A
  15. As a man, I wouldn't wear anything less than jacket and tie. For you, I would not suggest wearing khakis and a sweater, nor business casual. Some people will tell you to wear what you want, and its about the food, not what you wear. I think thats bull. Dress up. If you worry about being perceived as a tourist, being underdressed will definately allow you to stand out... As for the food and service, it is absolutely perfect.

    FASCINO

Sorry Tommy, there was a table of four that just wouldn't leave!! Oh wait, that was me. We ate at Fascino again last night for my mothers birthday. And of course everything was terrific. Anthony
  17. This previous post reminded me to post a bit of info myself. I went to order some ducks from Stone Church Farm. The lady politely informed me that with all of the positive press (Gourmet Mag, NY Times, and About Town newspaper) they have a 2-3 month backlog!! The ducks she described to me sounded absolutely delicious and I put my name on the list. When I receive my first bird in 6-8 weeks I'll roast her up and report back. I'll be sure to get every last morsel out of her, from the meat, to duck stock, to tasty clarified duck fat. Mmmm, nice spring asparaus and favas quickly sauteed in duck fat. It makes me hungry for spring!! Anthony
  18. Honestly, I haven't planned the menu yet, but I am sure it will include some tasty venison loin and a chestnut soup, two favorites that friends always appreciate. I'm figuring on going 3-4 courses for dinner, then a few hors d'ouvres for the latecomers... I gotta plan Christmas first!
  19. I am having a party with two seatings. 7:30 for friends who want dinner and drinks, and 9:30 for hors d'ouvres and drinks. Just come here...

    FASCINO

To the Depersio family, congratulations on yet another glowing review. The only problem is now reservations will be even more difficult!! Couldn't have happened to a better restaurant. I've said it before and say it again, Please Don't Change!! Anthony
  21. In the Fascino thread, several people have applauded the restaurants choice of quality stemware. We have all been to restaurants that offer the worst stemware. Maybe its time to expose these restaurants in the hope that they may improve. I would like to see good quality restaurants that just drop the ball in terms of proper glassware. My nominee for worst glass/highest quality food ratio is definately Latour in Ridgewood. Please, Mr. Latour, buy better glasses! I am embarrassed to bring my own, but do it anyway... Epernay needs a little help too Any other opinions?
  22. Capsouto Freres is always a good choice. In Tribeca...
  23. Felonius, you described it exactly as I imagined it. I can't think of anything more boring and annoying than a bunch of people that are egotistical and antisocial enough to shell out 7 large for the privilege of hanging out with each other. Give me a break... By the way Felonius, are you a Steely Dan fan?
  24. I am sure some people will disagree, but Tim Schafer's is the most over rated restaurant in northern Jersey. The food sounds great on paper, but the execution has always ruined a great idea. We went years and years ago, back when there were 8 or 10 tables, up until a few years ago. Each time I went I tried to like it, kept giving it another chance. Unfortunately, each time they managed to ruin something. I think chef Schafer has his stuff together, but the kitchen crew needs work. I haven't been back in a couple years since I was tired of throwing away money trying to like this place. There are better ways to spend your time and money...Some of the other suggestions in this thread are good. Head over to Madison or Chatham for a good meal...
  25. Birds... Check out this article in About Town newspaper. There are some nice sources at the bottom. I have not tried any yet, but I will be trying Stone Church ducks soon...At least I hope to... Ant
