  1. A rustic stew of sausage, onions, garlic, kale, white beans and cherry tomatoes.with some parmesan cheese. Comfort food on a cold and rainy night.
  2. Sure. This is the CSF I belong to: http://www.capeannfreshcatch.org/about-cafc/ It is a great program. The fish comes right from the boats to the share, they portion it out and deliver it in coolers on ice to the pick up location. You buy shares in eight-week increments. You can opt in for a 1 lb, 2 lb, or whole fish share. They also offer kosher shares. If there is a storm that prevents the boats from going out, the share credits you a week towards the next share period. Also, if you know you are going to be out of town for some of the share weeks, you can let them know when you sign up for the share and then you only have to pay for the weeks you select. The fish has been consistently excellent, much better than anything you can get in the stores around here. I enjoy the variety and the weekly puzzle of what to do with the catch. I am making Faroe Island salmon from the share tonight.
  3. More fish last night. We got scallops in our fish share this week. I cooked the lightly and served in a hollowed out baguette with some garlic-herb butter. Fast and easy.
  4. Yesterday's fish share was dabs. I made it in a white wine-lemon-butter-parsley sauce, with some crispy potatoes and asparagus. The fish was very sweet and tasty.
  5. Lettuce wraps on Thursday night. One of my favorite super fast dinners.
  6. Reposting Monday's dinner that got lost in the reboot of the upgrade: fish tacos made with haddock from my fish share. My husband got an email from them yesterday saying that next week in addition to the usual 2 pounds of white fish we get, we will be getting a pound of Faroe Island salmon and a pound of scallops. It will be a fish heavy week! Tuesday I made banh mi to try and use up the rest of the daikon-carrot pickle I made a couple of weeks ago. Still have some left.
  7. BonVivant, that halibut looks delectable The other night I made a pork tenderloin for the first time. I don't make pork often, and when I do, I typically cook bone in chops or a roast. I wrapped it in prosciutto before roasting. It got a little more cooked that I was aiming for. My meat thermometer's battery is dead at the moment. Served with a sage wine butter, smashed potatoes and shredded brussel sprouts. I really like shredded brussel sprouts, so fast and easy to make.

    Breakfast! 2015

Kim Shook, that looks really good. Nice idea for a big gathering. Poached eggs on toast with maldon salt
  9. Curry chicken and grapes on baguette
  10. More scallops last night, this time seared and served on linguini with a creamy arugula-basil pesto.
  11. I have dry-brined a chicken for three days in a fridge on a wire rack with a plate underneath and it was fine. Not too salty at all. It made for a very tasty chicken. I would do it this way all the time if I had the foresight to prepare. I usually don't though.
  12. A brown plate but very tasty. Scallop rolls with smoked paprika mayonnaise and herbed parmesan fries.

    Breakfast! 2015

Brie, apples, arugula, and dijon mustard on a baguette. Not really breakfast food but it is what I felt like eating.
  14. It is mayonnaise with sriracha and garlic added.
  15. Panko crusted monkfish sandwich with banh mi style stuff on it. I like the flavor of monkfish but man getting that membrane off is a chore.
  16. Yesterday was my husband's birthday. I made roasted racks of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, chicken with a mushroom-wine sauce for the non-lamb eaters, roasted broccoli, sautéed potatoes for the people who want starch and won't eat mushrooms, and whiskey-glazed carrots. No pictures, I have not figured out how to easily do photos with a big multi-generational group around. Monday night I wanted to use up the leftovers from the weekend dinners plus there is Monday night football, so sandwiches seemed appropriate. Here is a lamb sandwich with arugula, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, grainy mustard and provolone cheese. Similar sandwich but with chicken sausage for me (I don't eat red meat)
  17. Breakfast for dinner. This was my niece's plate. The adults did not have fruit or waffles, instead we had roasted asparagus and brioche toast.
  18. Fettuccine with black truffles and parmesan cream sauce. The other half of the truffle is buried in some arborio rice for a mushroom risotto I am making tomorrow. The truffle was a bit of a splurge but it is my husband's birthday weekend. I served this with a salad of bitter greens. Forgot to take a picture of the salad.
  19. Noodles with duck, spinach, scallions, shiitake mushrooms and soy sauce egg in spicy broth
  20. WOW BKEats you have been eating well! Very nice, all of it. Seared salmon on brown rice with stir fried vegetables in a ginger-garlic broth.
  21. My fish share gave me the dreaded pollock again yesterday. Trying to think of something to do with it other than chowder, I decided on Thai-flavored fish cakes. I ground up the fish with lemongrass, chiles, cilantro, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, palm sugar, scallions, and coconut milk then formed into patties and chilled to firm up. Then I fried them and served with lime wedges and a dipping sauce made from sweet chili sauce, fish sauce, and malt vinegar. I really liked this. Served with a cucumber salad and steamed rice. I also got a piece of Faroe Island salmon in this week's share so that will be dinner tonight.

    Breakfast! 2015

    Egg on a seeded bagel
  23. Pizza night. Pepperoni Vegetable I also made a carbonara pizza and a sausage pizza, but did not get pictures of those.
  24. Last night was clean the leftovers out of the fridge night, which usually translates to using up various leftovers in sandwich form. For my husband, leftover tenderloin, arugula, parmesan, and truffle butter and for me, leftover turkey meatballs and sauce, arugula and provolone
  25. A simple salad with hazelnuts, apples, and gorgonzola dolce in a citrus vinaigrette. I topped it with crispy chicken made from a recipe that came in a case of wine my husband ordered. It was supposed to be "sweet, spicy, and crunchy" but really did not have enough heat for me. And I forgot to add the honey that the recipe called for so it ended up not being sweet either (my fault, obviously). At least it was crunchy! It was one of those nights ;-)
