  1. Yes, that bread is available for sale in all of the stores out here. I just posted a picture in the breakfast thread of a strata I made this morning using the bread. There is a Portuguese bakery on the main drag in Provincetown that sells it in many different shapes. The other stores typically have the english muffin shape and then just large loaves. One more picture, a late night snack I made using local clams: clams casino dip. The recipe was in an Elin Hilderbrand book that I just finished reading. Quite tasty.
  2. Breakfast strata made with Portuguese sweet bread, chicken apple sausage, scallions, and sharp cheddar cheese.
  3. A late lunch at Local 186 in Provincetown http://www.local186.com Cocktails. The one in the back is a smoky mescal drink, and the one in the front has cranberries. I forget their names, sorry. Roasted garlic aioli on the side for dipping the fries into. That was mine. I only ate half and I am still absurdly stuffed six hours later. Something lighter tomorrow for sure.

  5. A quick tour of the offerings at PB Boulangerie in Wellfleet. Not recommended for dieters. I bought 8 croissants, 4 blueberry danishes, 2 chocolate tarts, and a baguette. I'll eat one croissant tomorrow. The rest will be eaten by the teens. Oh to have their metabolism. And of course tonight's sunset.
  6. So, I said we were going someplace new yesterday. I lied. It was back to some old favorites. We had breakfast at the Fairway. My nephew's boring pancakes a caprese omelet my niece's cannoli-stuffed french toast and my Greek scramble. I took half of this home and ate the rest for breakfast this morning. For dinner, we returned to Mac's Shack. Oysters broiled with garlic butter Oysters Rockefeller Salmon tartare Random sushi Razor clams Littleneck clams steamed in beer Linguini with pesto Salmon with mussels and roasted fennel Flourless chocolate torte Key lime pie Sunset I promise we are going to some new places soon, including an African restaurant that I have been wanting to try.

  9. I am back on the Cape for the next 10 or so days. Yesterday we went to an old Wellfleet favorite and one I have already shown here, Winslows Tavern. I love sitting on their shady front terrace. I'll put that on the dinner thread. Tomorrow we are going someplace new to us. Edited to add a photo of last night's sunset
  10. flounder from my fish share in a crunchy crust with Major Grey's mango chutney, coconut rice, sugar snap peas in sesame oil, and a new to me summer squash I found at the farmer's market that I disliked but the teens enjoyed. Pretty basic as my niece and nephew are living with me this week and I would rather cook things they will eat to avoid "dinner drama"
  11. rigatoni with grilled chicken sausage, grilled peppers, and grilled onions in Marcella's tomato-butter sauce with basil
  12. I'm back! This is not the long report. We went for an impromptu weekend in Chatham. The long trip starts on Saturday. I was with a bigger group so missed a lot of photos I would have taken. We ate twice at Bistro on Main and I've got nothing from those meals. The house we rented for the weekend Impudent Oyster foods. chopped salad scallop roll turkey club with housemade chips burger fish sandwich fish tacos butterscotch sundae for the nephew coconut creme brûlée key lime cheesecake for the niece A breakfast at the Lazy Lobster. 19. Summer squash frittata and ripe tomato slices
  20. Sandwich with the pickled eggplant from the "what are you preserving" thread, tomatoes, greens, and provolone cheese.
  21. @Shelby I love silver queen corn and have not had it in years....people don't grow it around here anymore. Too bad, I love the not so sweet and crisp shatter of the small kernels of Silver Queen corn. Cedar planked bluefish (today's fish share offering), great local tomatoes, and local corn that I now wish was silver queen.
  22. Tomatoes on toast
  23. Vegetable stew made with what I could salvage out of my fridge: a zucchini, some scallions, a couple of ears of corn and some cherry tomatoes, basil, some tomato puree from the freezer and a couple of poached eggs. The toast has garlic butter on it. I really need to go food shopping.
  24. Another recipe from Made in India: Fresh spinach with paneer. Very tasty. I served it with some naan. No photo of that because it was just the store-bought stuff.
