  1. Many thanks for your post and welcome to the Southeast Forum, Chantilly Bob! This, Mitchell's Bar-B-Q Ribs & Chicken, looks like it might be worth the drive from Atlanta if your excitement was this complete! full review by Michael Stern
  2. Just back from a trip to Charleston this week and can reliably report on the exquisite Peninsula Grill Coconut Cake .. it was all their website raved about and much more: a masterpiece of both taste and cake architecture! This was the rest of the meal I ordered and it was amazing in all respects! GRILLED JUMBO SEA SCALLOPSwith Cheddar Grits Fritter and Truffled Corn Coulis LOBSTER & CORN CHOWDERwith Basil Butter SLICED MUSCOVY DUCK BREASTwith Smoked Bacon-Potato Gratin, Sauteed Spinach and a Thyme Infused Red Wine Jus Service was impeccable and the place certainly is accomodating for whatever you wish...
  3. Actually, Robyn, you are doing precisely what one ought to do, namely, publicizing the miracle of the way in which the oil in the original menorah lasted eight full days ...this is why we light our menorah each night, with appropriate blessings, in the front bay windows of our home .. to celebrate the victory of good over evil that the Maccabee story tells... and sing the songs which commemorate this holiday .. one is my favorite by Peter, Paul, and Mary Light One Candle lyrics
  4. Glenn, we definitely need to send you a bill for our ingenuity and cleverness!
  5. Newport, Tennessee local dining options ... and even more .. but none look too fancy
  6. Beautiful photos, bloviatrix! Welcome to the visually enhanced posting fraternity/sorority!
  7. a marvelously informative thread from way back by Steven Shaw on this holiday We make potato latkes and serve with sour cream if a dairy meal, but applesauce if a meat meal is being served .. gifts, candles, dreidels, and sufganiyot (doughnuts) from a local bakery .. much as you do! Thanks, Swisskaese!
  8. This reminds me of the thread on "what your condiment choice says about you" ... concluding that selection of a condiment was equally as good as a therapist ... why do you think they call it The Mayo Clinic? was my reply ... I don't think I have ever tried that position! Grill your cheese, sailor??
  9. ah yes, Jason, of course ... something lustful and lascivious will get 'em going .. every time! Melting Moments to Treasure? We love to see you Melt! You deserve a Melt today!
  10. Comfort Me with Grilled Cheese
  11. I am planning to buy this exact knife shortly! My friends swear that it is exceptional ... but I have seen it priced lower somewhere .. will check it out. if this is the same knife.. then it is slightly cheaper...
  12. Without your cell phone, I'll venture ... Thanks, Rogov, for the 'followup' once again!
  13. Now this is something I might actually be brave enough to attempt! Thanks for both the pictures and commentary, Dave!
  14. and pray tell, Rogov, were you: (a) about as aware as you had been before this discussion? (b) about the same as usual? © much more interested in both the number of calls and/or the volume? Did we actually pique your fascination with the cell phone-in-dining-setting with this particular thread?
  15. It was .. and he is .. thanks, bloviatrix, as ever!
  16. You both will serve as my inspiration and role models for my next Thanksgiving! Beautifully done, both the real meal and the running dialogue ... ah, to have been a Kinsey ferret under the groaning table that day! Magnifique!
  17. Ah, Tess, you have touched upon the virtual heart of the issue: can people within one's immediate circle be 'trained' to act appropriately at the table of a restaurant? I would say a resounding 'aye' if done with finesse and gently ... modeling proper behavior to one's peers? possible?
  18. This thread has generated a great deal to consider and digest! After all is said and done, will you now look at your fellow customers in restaurants with 'new eyes'? Will your own behavior be even more diligently self-scrutinized? Do you think that during your future dining experiences you will now be even more acutely aware of fellow diners and even more sensitive? No change? All of the above?
  19. Thank you yet again, Rogov, for validating my comments earlier in this thread on our own visions of self importance ... personally, anything less than a dying hospital patient when one is 'on call' doesn't require a meal time 'summons' ... and yes as well to the pleasure enjoying/appreciating good manners affords us in the enjoyment of civilized living ...
  20. This local gentleman in Atlanta has quite a business selling hot sauces he makes ... Some like it hot: Pain and pleasure in a bottle
  21. You then are worthy of great sensitivity in the field of Kosher Kollard Green Kooking!
  22. the chicken stock, Al, was it, you know, kosher?
  23. Thanks, Pan, I already have! I am a little bit of a taste as you go type cook ...
  24. sniff, sniff ... well, I guess maybe just this once!
  25. I always substitute Coffee Rich for the evaporated milk because it contains no dairy products ... it isn't the same but it does work well enough and I add a bit of brandy to give the pie a bit of that missing item ...
