Todos Santos

After reading about the shockingly high-priced, Americanized

restaurants in Cabo, just wondering if there's anything left of

authentic Mexico in the area. Has Todos Santos been over-run too?

Are there any reasonably priced, fresh fish places there? Have

massive hotel chains scarred the landscape here since I was last

there five years ago? I'm afraid to hear the answer...

I have not been there but a surefire technique is to explore the back streets, look for any open air market, hang out where the fishermen bring in the daily catch or ask the housekeeping staff where they eat. Guaranteed to lead you in the right direction.

I just got back from La Paz. The seafood tacos at Bismark Cito on the malecon: pescado (20 pesos), cameron (15), langosta (50), smoked marlin (20), scollops (30), oysters in chipotle (30). You can load them up with various salsa slaws - you could make a whole meal out of two tacos (I yearning for some seafood tacos for breakfast now). A dozen oysters on the shell, 130 pesos. Took day trips to Todos Santos, Bahia Magdelena and San Jose. I'll post a brief trip report later on.

Thanks for the feedback. I've had luck with

back roads and alleys in the past so will certainly

try that again. Just wondered if there were any faves

among those who make this destination a regular deal.

Always been curious about Bahia de Magdalena, so will

look forward to your report about that as well as Todos

Santos, Mark, thanks!

I posted on the Cabo thread regarding Todos Santos, so check that one out while you're searching.

Have fun!
