Espresso Martini

I'm looking for a killer recipe for this drink.  I've only heard of it.  I'm thinking vodka, a little splash of Godiva dark and some reduced espresso.

2 oz. vodka

1.5 oz. kahlua

shot of espresso

Pour over ice in a shaker and shake it like it's someone you can't stand. Strain and enjoy.

in London, a bartender extraordinaire called "Dick Bradsell" invented a drink called a "Vodka Espresso" in 1984. A hung-over woman came into his bar and asked for a drink that would "pick her up, then fuck her up!"

Vodka Espresso

2 shots Vodka

1 strong, short shot of double espresso.

1/3 shot Tia maria

1/3 shot Kahlua

dash of Gomme Syrup (or to taste)

Add all ingredients to shaker, and then add the ice, especially in this order if the espresso is hot/ fresh. Too many people pour the hot espresso over the ice, then shake and wonder why their drink is so watery, and also why there is so much of it. Shake like hell, then strain (using a hawthorn strainer) into a chilled cocktail glass. Using a hawthorn strainer allows the foam of the drink to pass from the shaker into the glass. Garnish with three coffee beans, which have been arranged into a flower petal formation.

Cheers!

[my eGCI]

Espresso Martini

1 3/4 ounces Stolichnaya Vanil

1/2 ounce Kahlua

1/2 ounce cooled Espresso

1/2 ounce Dark Crème de Cacao

(add Bailey’s for a Cappucino Martini)

Combine in an ice filled shaker; shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnished with coffee beans.

Add more espresso if desired; or change the creme de cacao for the more expensive Godiva. Or even change the Kahlua for the lighter Tia Maria. Run with it and find out what combination you enjoy.

Cheers!

also nice playing around with all those great special coffee recipes,

a favourite of mine is espresso, amaretto and cognac.

tastes good with a splash of vanilla in there to.

went to zanzibar last year and they make this delicious coffee with cinnamon, cardamon, ginger and nutmeg, that'd probably taste great to shaken with maybe some dark rum..........

Just another thought: It's quite easy to make a coffee-infused vodka... Something as simple as coffee-infused vodka, cold espresso and a tiny touch of coffee cordial (Kahlua, etc.) for sweetness should do the trick.
