Just wanted to post that my husband and I had dinner at Serafina last Friday night and as always it was so nice. Serafina is on Eastlake for those of you who haven't been there. Chef John Neumark is such a dedicated chef, his food is wonderful! We've been here before, in fact we had our wedding reception here as the setting is so romantic, but we don't get back often enough.

On the weekends live jazz starts up around 9pm and the outdoor patio is open for dining whenever the weather is nice.

We had a wonderful bruschetta with EVOO and fresh mozzerella, pasta with morels, peas and pea shoots in a porcini cream sauce, pork scallopini in a dijon mustard sauce with cornichons and seared tuna done perfectly!

They also pick a wine of the week which ususually is a fantastic value.

John told us they are also doing Sunday brunch now which we will try out soon.

I absolutely agree. My partner and I ate on Serafina on July 31st, and it was possibly the best experience I have had all year. It was very busy, but not at all rushed. The food was wonderful, and the wait staff was exceptional. Still one of my favorite places in Seattle.

Thank you to both of you for mentioning one of my favorite Seattle Italian restaurants. We have 2 book events coming up there in the fall. On Nov. 15th, Serafina will host Andrea Immer, the wine master and on Dec. 3rd, Joyce Goldstein. I will post the whole list on a new thread, but in the meantime you could call Serafina for reservations. John put on a fabulous feast for Carol Field in June and we are excited about these.

  • 1 month later...

my only beef with serafina is the live jazz - too loud. i'm pretty much against live music in any restaurant, as it tends to be too domineering and the sound is rarely good. that said, i am continually impressed with their food and fine service. i love how they can be a special occasion place and a neighborhood joint all at once.

Dayne and I had brunch on Sunday. The brunch goes from 10-2 and is still pretty quiet, you didn't need a reservation.

We each had a little breakfast cocktail, mine was made with Lemencello, strawberry puree and Prosecco...now that is how I like to start my Sundays!

We shared a little bruschetta to start, it's one of our favorites! Crostoni della Enoteca Trimani....Their menu reads.."Toasted Macrina bread brushed with batuto and topped with quivering, luscious fresh mozzarella then baked in the oven until bubbly; garnished with Tonasket Billy's organic rocket" Damn it is sooo good!

Then Dayne had the Borsellino della Pasqua -Two crisp black forest ham “baskets” filled with soft polenta and sautéed mushrooms; topped with poached eggs 12.95 and I had the Frittata con Peperoni The Italian classic featuring piquillo pepper, spinach, goat cheese, and herbs; served with farmhouse potatoes 9.95. Both were excellent and way too much food after our generous serving of bruschetta. They were out of the grilled lamb loin which I really want to try.

Excellent mochas and lattes. The service was a bit slow but seeing as it was a leisurly sunday morning for us it wasn't really a problem. They are still getting into the swing of the brunch thing.

We'll be back to try a few more things for sure! And of course here is a place you can go totally casual or a bit nicer.
