Knife storage

Has anyone heard if magnetic knife strips are bad for your knives? I recently received one as a gift and am wondering if I should use it.

Absolutely not.

The only reason you wouldn't use it is if you have small children or pets who like to climb on kitchen counters.

Just be careful to lift your knives off cleanly: edge-side first and without dragging them along the metal magnets. This is where they get the bad reputation from because they will take off the edge, just like grinding your knife along anything else unsavory would. Of course, all is resolved with a few licks of the steel.
