CHEERWINE

i'll be cruising down I-95 to florida next week and i want to try to find some cheerwine. haven't seen it in quite some time and none of the big truck stops in n.c./s.c. seem to have it (guess it's been replaced with starbucks double shots!) are there any chain groceries carrying cheerwine-is it still even made? thanks for the help!

take 17 instead when you hit the carolinas - far more rustic, and much more fun to look at then 95. lots of 4-corner stops with gas stations that will sell it alongside some nice boiled peanuts (int he crockpot of course). buy some. (don't be scared of hepatitis)

especially if you go through wilmington - you are sure to find cheerwine there.

think that the 'pig' is a safe bet. i'll have to drive back up on 17 and stop in georgetown to see. will have to take your word on the diet cheerwine- i'm not much of a soda drinker at all-except cheerwine and cream soda and prefer to have my soda with all the sugar possible.

yeah - grocery stores definitely - but again, you're more likely to find a grocery store on 17 then you are on 95.

and that way you can stock up on cases and cases of it.

It's real hit or miss with Cheerwine. I can find it in nearly every grocery store in Raleigh, but when you start getting as far east as I-95, the supply starts to dwindle. With the bottler in Salisbury, its availability decreases the farther you get away.

this is true - altho i find it down ehre in atlanta every once in a while.

i can definitely vouch for 17 around wilmington, tho, as that was the first place i ever had it. (on my way up to Camp LeJeune)

I saw some on the way down I-81 in Woodstock, VA, which is considerably further north than I would have expected. Didn't see Diet Cheerwine though, or I would have tried it.

Being from the hometown of Cheerwine, Salisbury, NC, I have noticed that people are pretty polarized about it. I'm not too keen on sodas, but I like it. A common complaint is that it tastes like cough medicine. It's a bit syrupy, but not in league with cough medicine.
