Armin Diel, owner of Schlossgut Diel in Germany's Nahe region, will be making a Riesling in Washington this year. He has joined the new Long Shadows project headed by former Stimson Lane CEO Allen Shoup, it was announced this week.

Craig, don't know much about the Washington terroir; where are Armin Diel's vineyards within the Nahe region, and how does it compare to the Washington site?

Craig, don't know much about the Washington terroir; where are Armin Diel's vineyards within the Nahe region, and how does it compare to the Washington site?

I have not visited his estate, but the Nahe estates I have visited would not seem to have much in common with Washington St. vineyards. They must have more in common than meets the eye. I am not certain about the soil types.
