Just tasted this rum for the first time and must say that I really quite like it. Lovely and iodiney on the nose but sweet and full taste of molasses.

What's the story behind this one, apart from being a blend from Jamaica and Guyana?

Same company that markets the British Royal Navy Rum, I think.

I don't have a bottle of it, but yes its great stuff, I tasted it at the Penthouse rum fest this year.

Sea Wynde was designed to be close to the blend that was served to the Royal Navy Sailors from 1731 until 1971 when the last tot was served aboard the HMS Endymion. This is a heavy blend of rums from pot stills and continuous stills. I enjoy it with some ice and sip it after a meal, for me it's a little heavy for the first cocktail of the day. The taste is full of hearty tobacco, smoky oak and roasted nut tones. Heavily colored with caramel I'd recommend trying this one before you pay what I consider to be an expensive bottle of rum.
