  1. this from someone who said "Rocco had a mediocre reputation among serious, talented chefs to begin with in New York. Before the show, he was seen as a pretty boy with sufficient talent to open restaurants, but overall, not a contender" which is it? you seem to be playing both sides. Tommy, I miss your neon martini glass...
  2. Since I haven't heard that many first hand reviews, I accept the Post's for what it is because at least it is consistent with what's been shown on the series. Although I am loving the show so far, I won't be sad when it's over... sick of the hype.
  3. Thank you Gideon, that actually did answer my question!
  4. No I don't think the cameras followed the people 24/7...so watching Gideon dress... was that filmed after the fact? And the waitress talking to Topher... re-enacted?
  5. To Gideon: Re: Episode 3 I was just wondering why a camera happened to follow you home and be on you when you got the call to come back. Also, the brunette banned waitress (forget her name), also had a camera on her when she got the call from Topher. I find this most odd unless it was scripted. Could you please explain? Thank you.

    Rocco's

So sorry for the confusion! I have been following the thread on the other board about the tv show. I was just wondering if anyone has dined at Mr. DiSpirito's joint yet. Most of the reviews I have seen for Rocco's, except for the one in New York Magazine, have been hearsay, or from so-called former employees... that's why I said I am interested in the actual restaurant and not "The Restaurant" hype and urban legends already started about it. Would just like to know if anyone has eaten at it and if the food (mama's meatballs, yada yada...) is any good. Thanks!
  7. There's "Rocco's: The Restaurant" lights flashing... Then there's just Rocco's... the actual restaurant Just curious if anyone has tried the latter one out yet. Haven't seen too many reviews other than the one in New York magazine. Thanks
  8. This is the easiest ice cream you can possibly make. You only need a food processor, and it is ready to eat immediately. Strawberry/Peach Ice Cream (also good with raspberries) Ingredients: 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or to taste) 1 pound strawberries/peaches, STILL FROZEN 1/4 cup milk (ice cold) 1/4 cup heavy cream (ice cold) 1 teaspoon vanilla Add the sugar to food processor bowl. Run the machine until the sugar is very fine (1-2 minutes, or you can substitute superfine sugar). Add the frozen berries and run until chunky. In a separate measuring cup mix together the milk, cream, and vanilla. With the machine running, slowly add the milk mixture. When blended, the ice cream's ready to eat or store in the freezer.
